This year’s Comic-Con was really amazing for Comic Book movie fans, especially MCU fans as they got a lot of news and trailers for their favorite upcoming movies. One of that news reveals was about Captain Marvel, the first female lead superhero movie that is going to hit the theatres after Avengers Infinity War in 2019.
Earlier there were rumors that Captain Marvel might make an appearance in Avengers Infinity War before appearing in her own solo movie.
But those rumors have been turned down by the Directors of Infinity War and Kevin Feige announced at Comic Con that Captain Marvel is actually going to be a prequel movie set up in the 1990s and it is also going to feature Nick Fury who is going to have both eyes in that movie.
Feige also revealed the first look at our Captain Marvel, Brie Larson in costume, and he said that the Skrulls are going to be the main villains in Captain Marvel.
And, the movie is going to feature the long going Kree-Skrull war in the movie during that timeline of the MCU.
Now, for those of you who don’t know about the Skrulls, in the comics, they are these shape shifting green Aliens who want to take over the earth and are at constant war against the Kree as well as the people of Earth.
The Kree were featured firstly in Guardians of the Galaxy through Ronan and then in Agents of SHIELD where we saw that they just want to smash all humans. This is going to be the third time that they will feature in the MCU.
According to Feige, Captain Marvel will answer the question that why hasn’t there been any talks of the Skrulls or Captain Marvel until now in the MCU.
It seems to be that this is the movie where Nick Fury would lose one eye in a battle against the Skrulls. He once said that ”The last time I trusted someone, I lost an eye.” So, this movie would probably answer that too.
Now the crazy thing that arises here would be, as we all know that these Skrulls can shape shift, so what if one or more of our very favorite Avengers or other important characters of the MCU have secretly been a Skrull agent all this time in the form of humans. This could be very possible as Captain Marvel has been very strategically placed between Avengers Infinity War and Avengers 4.
So, as we know that there is going to be a lot of major super deaths in Avengers Infinity War, so what if in those final dying moments of an Avenger, we see him/her morphing into a Skrull, that would mean that he would have been among the Avengers for quite a while and secretly feeding off information about the humans and their protectors to the Skrulls.
And at the end of Infinity War, we might probably see Captain Marvel showing up, telling the rest of the Avengers that she knows about these Skrulls, and she could help, and from their picks up her own solo movie and ultimately Avengers 4.
So, Marvel could easily be planning a secret Invasion storyline along with the Infinity War Storyline and here are the possible contenders of at least one of these following characters to be a Skrull agent. The first possibility would obviously be Nick Fury.
As he was already present against the Skrulls along with Captain Marvel, he possibly could have been replaced by the Skrulls and could be among the Avengers all this time as a deadly spy for Skrulls. This would explain why he has not talked about the Skrulls until now.
Second possible person to be a Skrull could be Tony Stark, who could have been replaced right after the events of Avengers Age of Ultron and then he kinda started the Civil War just to split the Avengers apart and everything.
The third possibility could be Captain America who is now going to be Captain Nomad in Infinity War. He could possibly be a Skrull too, and similar to the above reason, his true intention could also be to split the Avengers apart.
Other possibilities are Hawkeye or Black Widow. If one of these would be a Skrull agent then no one would ever see it coming as the two have gained the trust of their fellow Avengers and Hawkeye even has a family, which would all mean that it was just to stay deep under cover.
There are two more individuals who could be Skrull agents, Hank Pym, the first Antman whom we have seen during the 1990s in the MCU, and Everet Ross. We saw that he is pretty adamant to find Wakanda in the Black Panther trailer, why does he want to do that? What are his true intentions? Who knows.
Marvel is known to surprise us with these crazy things and we would soon find out about this when Infinity War finally comes out. How do you feel about this theory? Tell us in the comments.
