It is not entirely flawless but is a great addition to cinema dedicated to the beloved web-slinger.
The movie was packed with Marvel easter eggs, from Hulkbuster to new prototype for Captain’s Shield to Thor’s magic belt. This is for the very first time that Marvel movie has touched upon Thor’s magic belt which is different from his hammer, also known as Mjolnir.
According to Norse legend, Thor is in possession of three things – an enchanted hammer (Mjolnir), Iron gloves to handle his powerful hammer (Járngreipr) and magic belt (Megingjörð) that doubles Thor’s existing strength.
In Marvel comic titled “Journey into Mystery #91”, the writers introduced a unique version of Thor’s “magic belt”. It was a mystical belt kept in storage by Odin when Thor (God of Thunder) was not using it. Over the years, the belt has found mention in the comics, most notably when Odin lured Red Norvell into using the belt to lift Mjolnir in order to avert Ragnarok.
The next movie in the Marvel cinematic universe is Thor Ragnarok where Cate Blanchett’s character Hela is seen holding Mjolnir. The details of the plot indicate that Thor will part with his hammer before being sent to Planet Sakaar. It will be interesting to see if Hela could lift the realm’s most powerful object with or without Iron gloves.
What will happen to the magic belt? What is the belt doing on Earth with Tony Stark? We will find answers to all these questions in the upcoming Thor: Ragnarok slated to release on November 3, 2017. CHEERS!
