Game of Thrones: This Crazy Fan Theory Just Got Confirmed

I still remember the day when the show-makers of Game of Thrones released a promotional image of Season 6, fans totally freaked out over it. It was a picture of Jon Snow’s blood soaked face. Jon Snow, son of Rhaegar Targaryen and Lyanna Stark (R+L=J) and the former Lord Commander of the Knight’s Watch, was hanging between being dead or alive. He was repeatedly stabbed by his own men in a brutal mutiny led by Alliser Thorne, as they had lost faith in his leadership. He paid the price for being an upright Lord Commander who thought about the greater good of the realm, instead of narrow interests of the Nights’ Watch.

Jon Snow fans have fought with the naysayers for months now claiming that he will come back from the dead. It was a pretty solid bet that he will come back as so many characters in the books of “Song of Ice and Fire” have returned, he is too big a character to die in Game of Thrones.

There were only three likely scenarios, either he would be resurrected by Melisandre and he becomes Azor Ahai to fulfill a prophecy or he will return in the form of a wolf as he possessed powerful warging capabilities or he becomes a white walker as Night’s King raise him from the dead.

Finally, all the Jon Snow fans celebrated as he was brought alive by Melisandre through her red magic. It was absolutely surreal to watch the scene when she is performing her rituals to please Lord of Light, cleansed his body, cut his hair and put them in the fire, recite her prayers,  but as the music is petering out she is losing her spirit and belief that it’s actually possible. But as you looked at Direwolf (Ghost), you know something is about to happen and it did.

Let’s keep R+L = J aside for a moment, technically speaking a Bastard cannot inherit his father’s property, but if he is born of royal blood, the rules are different. If there is no other heir in the line of succession of the King except the Bastard, then it’s possible to anoint him, for instance, Gendry Baratheon (an illegitimate child of King Robert) could have become King as Tommen was actually a son of Cersei and Jaime Lannister. The biggest question now is – How will Jon Snow come to know about his parental lineage? How will he react to it? If he could be King in the North, would he want to be the ruler of the Seven Kingdoms? If yes, then what will be the terms of an alliance with Daenerys Targaryen?

But he is not the Jon Snow we know. In a recent interview, George R.R Martin revealed that Beric Dondarrion who has been resurrected six times by Red God is now losing his memory, blood is not flowing in his veins, the heart is not beating and he is wight animated by fire. He is like one of those hideous creatures raised by Night’s King at Hard Home. Well, this will happen to Jon Snow too in the long run. He is like an “undead fire wight”.

In the latest episode titled “Stormborn”, Melisandre visited Dragonstone and met Daenerys Targaryen and told her that she must summon Jon Snow who is now “King in the North” as he has a role to play in the fight against the army of the dead. Dany is not a huge believer of prophecies, but when she said it’s the Prince, not Queen, Missandei told her that the prophecy was written in Old Valyrian which is “gender neutral”. So it could be either of them.

On the other hand, we had another red priestess Kinwara who was introduced into the show last season, she met Tyrion Lannister and Varys in the ancient city of Meereen. There was a difference of opinion between Tyrion and Varys on whether they should invoke religion to placate the city on the brink of civil war or should they maintain distance as it’s too risky and unpredictable.

She insisted that according to the ancient prophecy it’s Daenerys Targaryen who is “the Prince who was promised”. She has a much stronger case now as she commands massive Dothraki forces, dragons and savvy advisors by her side.

One of the major fan theories has been that Jon Snow and Dany will have a baby together and he will be a child of “Ice & fire”. But how can Jon become a father if his heart is not really beating or blood is not flowing in his veins?

Moreover, Mirri Maz Durr’s prophecy says that Dany can’t have babies after the ordeal she went through in season 1 of Game of Thrones involving blood magic. But George R.R Martin insinuated that she could be fertile again only through magical means. Could they be the King and Queen ruling Westeros? Only time will tell.
