Ben Affleck took the mantle of The Dark Knight of Gotham from Christian Bale in 2013 with the release of Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice. Following that he had a cameo in Suicide Squad. Later this year, we will see him in Justice League putting together various members of the team along with Wonder Woman. Last year Warner Bros. announced a standalone Batman film called, “THE BATMAN” with Affleck both starring and directing it.
The Batman was initially projected to start filming in 2017. However, several problems arose, which postponed that plan. First of all, Affleck dropped out as a director and there was news that he was done being Batman too. But, his stint at rehab and his recovery from alcoholism is finally some good news. The Batman is closer to production than ever. Matt Reeves has been roped in as the director of this film.
NOW FOR THE GOOD NEWS PART FOR THE BATMAN FILM FANS:
Ben Affleck has started training for the role of Batman. According to anonymous sources,
“Ben Affleck, Batman, I just got word that he just started training again for the role. You know how there was talk that he was gonna leave and he might leave the role? Nah, bro. He’s working out. He’s getting back in shape.”
There is still no confirmation as to when the production for THE BATMAN film will get underway or what is its initial release date. Whatever we may think of DCEU, but Affleck training for BATMAN is finally some good news. A standalone movie from a great director like Reeves is what DC Extended Universe needs. Also, Affleck getting back in the groove after his stint at rehab is something to cheer about.
The Batman film doesn’t have any official release date, but we will keep you posted about all the developments.
