Tom Cruise’s Edge of Tomorrow Sequel Adds A Major Character That Will Change The Game

Just two sequels are not enough for Edge of Tomorrow fans, but director Doug Liman has decided to round off the franchise with the upcoming ‘Edge of The Tomorrow 2’. Tom Cruise and Emily Blunt are all set to step in as Bill Cage and Rita Vrataski, while the director has hinted about a third character that could change the game this time.

Edge of Tomorrow

“I think what people tend to do with sequels is they just make them bigger. And I’m like, ‘No, a sequel should be smaller.’ Like, you did the first film as sort of the ad campaign for the sequel, so now you don’t need as much action, and in the case of Edge of Tomorrow, people obviously loved the comedy and they loved the situation, so we can do way more focused on Tom’s character and Emily Blunt’s character, and there’s a third character in the sequel that’s gonna for sure steal the movie. We can focus on that…I don’t need an action sequence every two minutes,” said Liman in a report filed by Cinemablend.

Officially known as Live Die Repeat and Repeat, Liman has not disclosed any detail about the movie and character. But as per his statement, this sounds like a huge blast. And now we are wondering whether the character would be combatting alongside Vrastaski or it would be someone else impacted from Alpha Mimic’s blood. Let’s see what will drive this story.

Talking about the fights and overall environment, Liman said:

“In the sequel, I’m creating an environment where I get to have even more of those details.”

The fans of the franchise were served with a plenty of humor with Cruise’s character dying and reliving again. This time, there will more technological elements, with aliens all around, batteries consumed amid the battle and suits not working. We hope this is going to be massive.

The franchise has not revealed about the production and release dates. Stay tuned to Quirkybyte for more updates.
