The rumor mills were abuzz with clues or signs of Slade Wilson (played by Manu Bennett) returning to Star city in the future seasons of Arrow. But all speculation was finally put to rest by Marc Guggenheim as he clarified on his Tumblr page that Deathstroke has been earmarked for a live action DC property. Months later, DC made an announcement that Deathstroke will be the villain in the upcoming Batman solo movie. He will be up against the greatest detective and superhero the world has ever seen – THE BATMAN. Does he stand a chance? Are we underestimating Deathstroke’s abilities? Hell yeah!!

In DC Comic book universe, he is an assassin for hire who always gets his way. He is one of the most powerful figures whose powers are off the charts and he has a sword with a magical blade. He could calculate every move of his opponent and then destroy him at will. In one of the DC storyline titled “Identity crisis”, Deathstroke single-handedly took down the entire justice league.

In the movie, Joe Manganiello has been cast to play Slade Wilson/ Deathstroke in the Batman solo movie. He recently posted a picture of Deathstroke in a birthday tweet to DC’s Chief Creative Officer Geoff Johns, later it was revealed that it was a piece of fan-art created by DeviantArt user ran some based on the previous test footage of the character. Joe spoke to ET about the role and said –

“Growing up an avid comic book fan, and then there were a lot of superhero roles, and supervillain roles, that came my way that I said no to, or wasn’t allowed to do, because of other commitments. It’s just really exciting to think that this is the one. I’m glad everybody’s happy. I’m just gonna put my head down and just really show up as prepared as any supervillain ever has.”

Wishing him all the best!
