Depression is just so normal and can happen to everyone. Even celebs are not immune from this state, be it bipolar or post-partum depression. Read about these celebs who have actually struggled their way out of depression.

1) Ashley Judd

Life is not a bed of roses. You might feel that Ashley Judd has a perfect life. A loving husband, a successful acting career, and a passion for social work. So, how can someone like Ashley Judd be depressed? Well, life has its own twist and turns.

In 2011, she revealed that she considered attempting suicide when she was in sixth class. In fact, she was in a rehab for 42 days. She said, “I would have died without it”.  She now helps those who are less fortunate through charity work and in fact this, in turn, has helped her in overcoming her past.

Paulina Porizkova faced depression when she was voted off ABC’s Dancing with the Stars in 2007. In fact, she had to take antidepressant to cure her anxiety. She decided to stop the medication. Even though she had withdrawal symptoms, but with her strong will power, she overcame depression. She was not in favor of antidepressant, however, she commented, that, “she is “starting to wonder whether antidepressants can often be the emotional equivalent of plastic surgery.”

Demi Lovato made headlines when she enrolled for a treatment for “emotional and physical issues”. After completing her treatment, she confessed that she suffered from anorexia, bulimia, and bipolar disorder. Read ahead to know what she had to say about it, “looking back it makes sense. There were times when I was so manic, I was writing seven songs in one night and I’d be up until 5:30 in the morning.”

Jon Hamm was only 20 when he experienced chronic depression. He developed this condition post the death of his father. He underwent therapy to overcome depression and his college environment also helped him to fight depression. Medication helped him to recover ad lead a normal life. He said, “You can change your brain chemistry enough to think: ‘I want to get up in the morning; I don’t want to sleep until four in the afternoon”.

Probably you know Owen Wilson as a lazy, fun-loving dude. However, his life has another story as well. He actually attempted suicide at his home in California. There were friends who were shocked to hear this, but then, people also reported that this 38 years old chap had suffered his piece of difficulties and one of which includes drug addiction.

No one actually knows the real reason behind the death of this 28-year-old actor. Heath Ledger actually overdosed on painkillers, sleeping pills, and anxiety drugs. He also confessed that he was suffering from insomnia. After his death, people claimed that there was a change in his behavior after he broke up with actress Michelle Williams who is the mother of his then 2-year-old daughter.

David Arquette was spotted behaving weirdly in night clubs. It is reported he started behaving like this after he and his wife Courteney Cox announced their separation in 2010. He confessed in a radio interview that he had been drinking a lot and acting like a “maniac.”

Arquette also got admitted into a rehab center to overcome his issue of alcohol and to cure depression.
