8 Movie Scenes You Didn’t Know Were CGI

Computer Generated Imagery is now one of the most important aspects in the movies and it has come a long way. From movies to magazines to the imagery of outer space, CGI is now integrated in almost every movie. A little bit of CGI can either make the scene look realistic or it can even spoil the whole scene. Here are eight scenes that we didn’t realize were actually CGI.

1) “Jurassic Park” (1993)

Obviously, the dinosaurs used in this movies were not real, but the dinosaurs weren’t only that were designed using Computer Generated Imagery. The scenes including the raptor were actually performed by a stunt girl. Her face was added post production with a CGI.

2) “Die hard with Vengeance” (1995)

A giant board with “I hate Niggers.” The board was empty without anything written on it, the words were added digitally with the help of CGI. They also made the another one with “I hate Everybody.”

3) “Fight Club” (1999)

Director David Fincher is known for some of the best CGI used in the movies. Fight club contains several scenes which you might never know were actually done through CGI. For example, take a sex scene, in fact, Helena Bonham Carter never got nude on the sets, in fact, there was no set, no Helena Bonham Carter, it was complete CGI.

4) “Zodiac” (2007)

David Fincher’s obsession with CGI is very much seen in this movie. In the Zodiac, every background is constructed digitally. Zodiac was the first film to employ the Filmstream camera.

5) “Dark Shadows” (2012)

An American horror film. Johnny Depp’s character of Barnabas Collins in Tim Burton’s Dark Shadow is magnificent, you might not have noticed that Barnabas never blinked. In fact, all of his eye movements were replaced post-production of the film.

6) “Captain America: The Winter Soldier” (2014)

This awesome movie was obviously could not be possible without the help of CGI. It received an Academy Award nomination for Best Visual Effects. The film contained 2,500 visual effects shots.

7) Spider Man-2 (2004)

One of the best scenes of the Sam Raimi directorial, Spider Man 2, is the death of Doctor Octopus, where he dies through submersion in nuclear fusion machine. It was a computer generated scene which looked real.

8) Furious 7(2015)

The departure of Paul Walker was highly personal as he left the movie uncompleted when he died in a car accident in 2013. The team used his brothers Cody and Caleb to complete the film with the help of CGI.
