Marvel and Sony are working on a new Spiderman franchise to reboot the beloved comic-book character. The arrangement between the two studios is unique – Marvel pushes the creative leads while Sony decides to permit or reject it. In the new franchise, the popular actor Tom Holland has been cast as Peter Parker/Spiderman, who was on the side of Tony Stark/Iron Man in Captain America Civil War movie. His debut performance as Spiderman was amazing, to say the least.
The studio has finalized on the “Spiderman Homecoming” storyline and Vulture as the big villain to be played by Michael Keaton (Birdman, Spotlight). He will be wearing a suit which gives him the ability to fly at increased strength, built from the remains of Chitauri (a race of extra-terrestrial shape-shifters) technology from the battle of New York. He will also employ the help of a man called Tinkerer who will actually make the advanced flight suit based on superior alien technology. Further, the additions to the cast include Donald Glover as Peter Parker’s friend and Marisa Tomei as Aunt May.
The movie also has Robert Downey Jr. a.k.a Tony Stark. He will be a mentor to Peter Parker who is still learning to understand what it means to be a superhero. He would surprise him with cool new upgraded suit loaded with Spidey web wings, web fluid, spider light, spider trackers and mechanical web-shooters that display classic Spiderman signal. It’s sometimes also called as Iron Spider suit. He can do everything that the Iron man can do plus more. For instance, Tony Stark’s watch turned into a weaponized arm in Captain America Civil War. This is the kind of modern gadgetry that we will see in Spiderman outfits such as stealth armor or super-strong metallic armor.
But this is not all, according to a twitter user who is connected with the project leaked the production details and revealed that the new home-made vigilante suit is being worn by Tom Holland. There could be the case that the original suit is under repair and is in possession of Stark Industries, so in the meantime, he is wearing a different suit. It is also possible that he is wearing a different suit in a flashback scene.
The movie is expected to hit theatres on July 7, 2017. The film is being directed by Jon Watts (Cop Car).
