In the last season, we saw Ward is possessed by some kind of demon, in comics, it’s known as Hive, created in a lab to physically embody all of Hydra’s ideals. It is the amalgamation of all beings who have been sacrificed in the pursuit of bringing the beast back through a portal. He has the power to sway In-humans to his cause without their will, he has influenced Daisy who is now on a warpath against S.H.I.E.L.D, it has pushed Coulson to the edge and he is now trying to put together an elite team of secret warriors to take on the Hive (Hydra God). He has tiny organisms that are parts of himself which he uses to devour and control people like in the comics except the fact that they are much smaller on the TV show. Hive has access to Malick’s resources now, he has bought the entire town to recreate the original experiment that created the first set of in-humans, and he has stolen the device that could potentially destroy him (he found it buried in Hellfire’s apartment).
The studio is planning a crossover of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D TV show and Captain America Civil War movie in a big way, unlike the lame version did last time with Avengers: Age of Ultron. In the latest episode, we saw how Captain America Energy Shield protected Coulson and May from a major explosion. The head of ATCU (Advanced Thermal Containment Unit) General Talbot called for cutting the head off H.Y.D.R.A and launched devastating attacks in multiple locations including some of the strongholds based on the information provided by Malick. This plot has a strong connection with the Civil War storyline and is likely to influence narrative in MCU.
