Jonathan Majors Loses Several Projects Following Assault Allegations

Jonathan Majors, the star of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, has reportedly lost multiple major deals due to his recent arrest and assault allegations. According to Deadline, Jonathan Majors loses several projects like a feature film adaptation of Walter Mosley’s thriller novel The Man in My Basement, an ad campaign for Major League Baseball’s Texas Rangers, and an unannounced biopic of jazz legend Otis Redding. The actor was also dropped by his management firm, Entertainment 360, as well as his publicist, The Lede Company, as he navigates an ongoing scandal stemming from allegations of domestic violence made against him.

Majors’ situation is getting worse by the day. He was arrested in New York City on March 25 after a call to the police reported domestic violence against an unnamed woman. The next day, Majors’ accuser recanted her statements, while his criminal defense attorney Priya Chaudhry provided a statement saying, “Jonathan Majors is completely innocent and is probably the victim of an altercation with a woman he knows. We are quickly gathering and presenting evidence to the District Attorney with the expectation that all charges will be dropped imminently.”

Despite the accusations, Majors was initially cut from the U.S. Army’s latest iteration of its long-running “Be All You Can Be” ad campaign. An official statement noted, “The U.S. Army is aware of the arrest of Jonathan Majors and we are deeply concerned by the allegations surrounding his arrest. We recently released two ads in which Mr. Majors appears. While Mr. Majors is innocent until proven guilty, prudence dictates that we pull our ads until the investigation into these allegations is complete.”

Other people in the entertainment industry have been commenting on the situation and Majors himself. Following Majors’ arrest, Your Turn and Uncle Frank director A.B. Allen reposted a series of tweets from February wherein he wrote, “There’s a particular actor, relatively new on the scene, who Twitter has violently fallen head over heels for who, in actuality, is a vicious, cruel, abusive human being, both professionally and in his personal life, and every new viral thirst tweet about him drives me insane.” When asked directly if the actor he referred to was Majors, Allen confirmed that it was.

Despite the allegations, Majors still remains on the MCU roster as Kang the Conqueror. A report stated that sources close to Marvel claimed the company has had “zero conversations” regarding recasting the role in the MCU. Majors has already shot his scenes for the second season of Loki on Disney+, and is slated to star in 2025’s Avengers: The Kang Dynasty which will reportedly start filming as early as 2024. Majors has been a rising star in the entertainment industry, earning critical acclaim for his performances in films like The Last Black Man in San Francisco and TV shows like Lovecraft Country. But these allegations may have caused irreparable damage to his career.

It remains to be seen what the future holds for Majors, but it’s clear that the allegations against him have already had significant consequences. The entertainment industry is taking a strong stance against domestic violence and abuse, and Majors’ situation serves as a reminder that no one is above the law. It’s important for everyone, regardless of their status, to be held accountable for their actions.
