Fans of the DC Universe are eagerly anticipating the release of Shazam! Fury of the Gods and one of the most highly-anticipated aspects of the film is Wonder Woman’s cameo. While footage of the Amazonian princess in the movie was first shown at CinemaCon 2022, it was only recently that the general audience got a glimpse of Gal Gadot’s rumored appearance in the film. Warner Bros. released a new TV spot for the upcoming movie that gives fans a better look at Gal Gadot’s Wonder Woman cameo in Shazam 2.
In the TV spot, fans can spot Wonder Woman standing among what looks to be the Shazam Family. While the screen captures are low-resolution and it is hard to make out any details, it is clear that the Amazonian princess is holding an important glowing staff emphasized throughout the various promotional material. Fans who can’t spot her might need to look to the right of the group, where Wonder Woman is standing, wearing her iconic costume. This scene has actually been shown off before, with some previous footage displaying Wonder Woman’s bracers and magical staff in hand.
Despite not being able to see her face, the footage showing off Wonder Woman sure does look like Gal Gadot. It is important to note, however, that an official press release for the film revealed that actress Taylor Cahill will be playing “Fake Wonder Woman”. This led some fans to believe that Wonder Woman’s role in the movie might be a misdirection or a simple reference to the character. However, director David F. Sandberg teased that it might very well be Gadot playing the Amazonian princess. Despite the cancellation of her third solo film, it looks like the actress isn’t done with the DCU yet.
Gal Gadot’s future as Wonder Woman might be uncertain, but at least she has a strong chance of also appearing in The Flash. Recently revealed Funko Pop! figures show Princess Diana among all the other characters in the movie. However, another rumor suggests that she was removed from the project, leaving fans uncertain about her appearance in the upcoming film. Fans will have to wait until The Flash arrives in theaters on June 16, 2023, to know for sure. While fans wait to see whether Gal Gadot will appear in The Flash, they can look forward to Shazam! Fury of the Gods, which hits theaters on March 17.
The film sees Zachary Levi reprising his role as Billy Batson, a teenager who can transform into a superhero with the power of six gods by saying the word “Shazam”. The first Shazam!, film featured a cameo from Superman, but Henry Cavill did not appear in the sequel. Wonder Woman’s cameo is highly-anticipated, and fans are excited to see how the Amazonian princess will fit into the story. While little is known about the plot of Shazam! Fury of the Gods, the film is expected to feature a number of new villains.
Helen Mirren will play the villainous Hespera, while Lucy Liu will portray Kalypso. Additionally, Rachel Zegler and West Side Story’s Marta Milans will appear as sisters, and Adam Brody, Ross Butler, and D.J. Cotrona will return as members of the Shazam Family. Director David F. Sandberg has teased that the film will feature more of the humor and heart that made the first Shazam! film a hit with audiences. Sandberg has also promised bigger and more epic action sequences, which will surely be a treat for fans of the superhero genre.
