Weekend Box Office Report – Thor 4 Continues to Fail

The MCU is facing difficulties as the output of both of their last two entries has proven to be relatively middling. Ms. Marvel attained the most negligible viewership on Disney+ compared to all other live-action MCU projects. And now Thor: Love and Thunder’s performance has also been mediocre by Marvel standards. Let’s look at the latest weekend box office report and see how Thor 4 continues to fail.

Thor: Love and Thunder made just $13 million on its 4th weekend at the domestic Box Office. This week’s drop has been just 42%, but the last two weekends suffered massive drops of 67.7% and 51.6%, respectively. So, all in all, Love and Thunder hasn’t performed as it should have for being the most expensive Thor movie to date. So far, it has made just $301 million domestically, and its total has amassed to just $662 million worldwide. It has barely beaten Thor: The Dark World ($644 million), and its Box Office run will end somewhere around 700 million at best.

Most movies and movie studios would kill to have these numbers. But these are very average for a fourth Thor movie. And Thor is supposed to be one of the big 3 Avengers. While the other two managed to go beyond the Billion Dollar mark at least once, Thor still hasn’t pulled off the same feat with four tries. And the fourth one is nowhere close to the third one. So at this rate, will Marvel give us a Thor 5 in Phase 7? Will Disney allow Marvel and Taika Waititi to make one more of those? There’s a big question mark on Thor now.

On the other end, we’ve got Top Gun: Maverick which went through its second weekend at the Box Office and still pulled in $8 million. It has dropped just 20% from the last weekend, and its Box Office total stands at $650 million domestically and $1.321 billion worldwide. It will soon beat Jurassic World ($653 million domestic) and Titanic ($659 million domestic) to become the 7th biggest movie in the domestic market.

Weekend Box Office Report

Regarding the rest of the movies, Dwayne Johnson’s DC League of Super-Pets opened up with just $23 million domestically and totaling a total of $41 million worldwide. It is yet to open in many parts of the world, but this sort of a start hasn’t proved to be very promising. Expect this film to end somewhere between 100-$150 million worldwide.

And last but not least, Jordan Peele’s Nope has dropped by 58% from last weekend and made just $18.5 million this weekend. So, its domestic total has reached $80 million, and it is yet to release internationally.
