Every season of Stranger Things has always followed a pattern where the main characters defeat the season’s primary villain and send them back to the Upside Down. However, they might be breaking that pattern here as the main villain of S4, Vecna, will win the finale. Keep up with the post to find out why Vecna will not die and why we think Vecna will be the reigning champion of the fourth season.
The story of the small town of Hawkins, Indiana, took a huge turn when a mysterious began killing its teenagers. This figure turned out to be a resident of the Upside Down whose beings have troubled the town in the past. However, this villain is way more dangerous, powerful and terrifying this time than any other before him. It not only kills its victims mindlessly, like the Demogorgons and the Mind Flayer but tortures them. Adding to this, he makes them relive their past trauma that all they want at this moment is death. And then he grants them the most horrifying and painful death those teens could ever wish for.
The first part of the fourth season dealt with the introduction of the character and establishing his origin in the real world. This season’s events also led us to believe that it has been “Vecna All Along”. His control over the Hive Mind of the haunting dimension point toward him being the one to send the Demogorgons and the Mind Flayer over to Hawkins. So, we think he isn’t going anywhere soon. Also, we think that he will win this season, killing a main character in the process. And then the children and the adults will unite one more time to defeat this villain in Season 5.
WHY DO WE THINK THAT VECNA WILL PREVAIL IN SEASON 4?
After seeing Vecna in action in the first seven episodes of Season 4, we know he isn’t like any villain before him. One of the biggest distinctions is his motivations and a legit backstory. By now, all we saw were unmotivated villains whose only aim was to bring about chaos, mayhem, and destruction. But Vecna, unlike others, has a conscious. He was once Henry Creel, who later became the first test subject of Dr. Brenner. He is the Number One whose powers were replicated later in the children, including our dear, old Eleven. Henry has always had a knack for torturing animals and even killed his mother and sister.
The second point to note here is that Vecna seems to be a villain with a plan. He has spent years in the Upside Down, preparing for this very moment. He made his house the headquarters of his work, where he keeps his victims’ corpses as trophies. The more he kills, the more gates he opens, and the more his hold over the prime dimension increases. The earthquakes have already indicated that Upside Down is growing unstable. So, at this moment, it seems like his plan was to take over the town of Hawkins with the Upside Down. And then take revenge on Eleven! And so far, his plans are going exactly how he wanted.
Other reasons are not much compelling but they still make sense. For instance, the creators of the show, the Duffer Brothers have hinted toward a tragic ending to the fourth season. Plus, there are rumors that not all of the characters of the show will survive this season. This goes in contrast with every season where the main cast always made it out alive. In fact, if we take the Duffer Brothers by their word, we might see more than one of them dying! That is why we think that season 4 will end tragically, with Vecna emerging victorious, leading to the deaths of many. It won’t be until the fifth and last season that the cast will find a way to defeat him! This pretty much sums up the question of why Vecna will not die.
PLUS, VECNA IS THE BEST VILLAIN AROUND
By now, I think we have established that Vecna is the greatest creation of the show, so far. The story of the show was pretty much a mess till now since we had no clear answer to what was happening in the town. And especially, how it all started. This season cleared it all up by introducing Vecna. Contrary to what Dustin thought, Vecna was the mastermind behind all the attacks on Hawkins. So, at this point, there is probably no one stronger than Vecna. The creators can try to come up with a better villain but that is highly unlikely in the last season. This strengthens our belief that Vecna will survive through season 4 which will end tragically!
