Anthony Mackie is set to star as Sam Wilson in a fourth Captain America movie, which was set up by The Falcon and the Winter Soldier. Writer Malcolm Spellman who wrote The Falcon and the Winter Soldier is also working on Captain America 4. But it’s been over a year and we hadn’t heard about any developments on this upcoming sequel… until now because Marvel has just hired a new Captain America 4 director.
The Hollywood Reporter reported that Nigerian-American filmmaker Julius Onah will be helming the fourth outing of Captain America. His part experience sheet states that he directed 2018’s The Cloverfield Paradox. So, he is more than capable of doing justice to Captain America 4 as well. Marvel not only looks outside the box for their acting talent, but they also do the same with directors.
Now, it will be interesting to see whether this version of Cap also gets his own trilogy. Sam Wilson’s turn into Captain America was very well received when it happened in The Falcon and the Winter Soldier. But whether a Captain America 5 would happen will depend upon the success and quality of Captain America 4. When this movie is set to begin filming remains to be seen. But we reckon that it should begin production in the second half of 2023, if not before that. And that could further mean that we’d get Captain America 4 by 2024.
Besides that, MCU’s upcoming roster includes Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, The Marvels, Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania, Fantastic Four, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, Deadpool 3, Nova, Shang-Chi 2, Blade and The Thunderbolts. We’ve also got several MCU shows for Disney Plus including She-Hulk, Secret Invasion, Ironheart, I am Groot, Armor Wars, Echo, Wakanda, Loki season 2, What If…? Season 2, Agatha House of Harkness, Werewolf by Night, Okoye, and Wonder Man.
