10 Facts About The Deathly Hallows Movies

The last two movies in the Potter franchise, The Deathly Hallows movies are extremely important as they are adapted from the final book that concluded the beloved series. The performances are great and the locations are phenomenal as these two movies make up the finale of the franchise. The last chapter in the series satisfied everyone and Yates finally did justice to the book with his two-part extravaganza! The movies earned critical acclaim as well as the audience’s support. Here are some facts about the movies.

 10. Splitting the last book into 2 movies:

After Harry Potter, a lot of movie franchises started splitting the last book into two movies even though most of them weren’t able to pull it off. The Deathly Hallows is a vast book with so much going on that making it into just one movie seems impossible. It was a good decision to turn it into 2 films and it also helped in setting the tone better.

This scene was completely original and wasn’t in the book. It portrayed the strong friendship and bond between Harry and Hermione. The scene was also important to lighten the tone of the movie which is otherwise heavy and dark. The scene is lighthearted and entertaining to watch.

In the books, it is never hinted that Neville and Luna were attracted to each other or ever got together. In fact they both married different people in the books. The last movie made them a couple and we couldn’t be happier because they are both adorable!

The tale of three brothers was one of the highlights of the movie and the animated sequence was simply brilliant. Ben Hibon was the director of the sequence, collaborating very closely with director David Yates over the course of six months to develop the three-minute animation and it was totally worth it.

Remember the scene from Deathly Hallows part 1 where the order took the polyjuice potion to transform into Harry? As a result, we had seven Harry Potters in that scene and it was a very funny scene. That one scene took two days to film and was very complex. Radcliffe revealed it was exhausting and took 90 takes for each Potter and tremendous observation on his part.

 5. Tom Felton’s girlfriend appears in the epilogue:

In the epilogue scene, we see Draco and his wife sending their son Scorpius to Hogwarts and most people don’t know that the woman playing Draco’s wife Astoria in this scene was actually Tom Felton’s girlfriend of the time Jade Gordon. Tom convinced her to appear in the scene as his wife Astoria Greengrass and she agreed.

 4. Recreation of Gringotts:

As we all know that the last movie features the wizard bank as the trio breaks into Bellatrix’s vault to find a horcrux. Gringotts earlier appeared in the first movie and to recreate it, the creative department had to dig out old props and the scales and desks that were used by the goblin bank tellers. The desks were given a fresh paint job and were somewhat redesigned to have a more elegant look. It felt like the story went full circle with these minute details.

There are some extremely interesting facts about the Lovegood house and the clothes worn by Xenophilius in the movie. His robes had mismatched patches on them and they were supposed to be designed by Luna and represented the father-daughter love. Their house had art that was inspired by Evanna’s real art and the dance steps they do at the wedding were thought by Evanna Lynch herself.

A shocking fact about the last movie is that the cast members were actually randomly searched while filming because the props department was worried they would steal some props as souveniers. It was a necessary protocol while the filming of the last two movies as the props were extremely important for the filming and the sentimental value was also understandable.

We all remember the iconic scene from the last film where Minerva fights Severus in the great hall but do you know that this scene almost never happened in the film because it was decided that Harry would duel Snape. However, JKR stepped in and actually fought for McGonagall to be in the scene as it was supposed to be according to the book. Thankfully we got to see the duel as it was meant to be because that scene was amazing.
