Why John Krasinski’s 838 Mr Fantastic Is The Worst

Here is why we think that 838 Mr Fantastic is the worst. Take a look and let us know if you agree with the analysis. The Marvel Cinematic Universe saw the rise of one of the most anticipated movies of all times in the form of Multiverse of Madness. But the thing with that movie is that it did not result in the bombastic advent of the multiverse as the fandom expected from it. You see, Multiverse of Madness wanted to be just a self-contained horror movie but it was expected to be one of the most bombastic revelations of the MCU. This inherent conflict between the marketing and the writing department resulted in a movie that did not fulfill either requirement.

Do not get us wrong, Multiverse of Madness has some of the most heart-wrenching moments in all of MCU. Wanda gives us a scare of our lives as the Scarlet Witch but the entire sequence seems over-inflated and engineered to a degree that is not natural to the cinematic universe. Sam Raimi delivered on his promise of creating an MCU horror movie, but it is not a movie that sits well in the MCU. The thing with that is that the threat is not extra-terrestrial or supernatural. It is a threat that comes from inside the MCU and inside the Avengers but the character development is not there. Even if you watch WandaVision, you don’t get the whole picture of what Wanda is going through.

Mr Fantastic Is The Worst

We mean to say that the Darkhold’s corruption might be the real culprit here but the movie never showed it to me so how am I to know, and therein lies the inherent problem of Multiverse of Madness. The “show don’t tell” policy works really well in comic book movies but the MCU’s hand-wavy explanations of why things are the way they are catching up with them. Look at John Krasinski’s Mr Fantastic in the movie for instance. He is introduced by Baron Karl Mordo as the smartest man alive.

Couple that with the fact that fans had been vying for Krasinski to play the character for several years now and you realize that his introduction was one of the craziest fan moments. But this excitement is short-lived because this “smartest man alive” does everything in his power to cripple The Illuminati’s chances against The Scarlet Witch. 838 Mr Fantastic is the worst. He reveals The Illuminati’s ace in the hole by disclosing Black Bolt’s power and effectively causing his death. Moreover, he then proceeds to use his arm to reach for Wanda.

At this point, Wanda just rips him apart like string cheese and that is the end of the character. This is probably the most fan-baity thing we have ever seen. Not only does this Mr Fantastic not use his intellect to halt Wanda but he also forfeits his life to stall her for a couple of seconds. At least Professor X tried to save 838 Wanda before completely losing to The Scarlet Witch. All Mr Fantastic did was mess up the chances of every other member of The Illuminati.

Lamentation

Mr Fantastic is the worst

It is a sad day in the industry when such an important character as Mr Fantastic is relegated to the status of a plot device who exists only to make Wanda seem more dangerous than she has any right to be. We get it, Raimi, she’s a scary witch who’s traversing the multiverse on a rampage to get to her kids. But the only problem with that narrative is that there are a million other ways to traverse the multiverse than just dreamwalking. 838 Mr Fantastic is the worst live-action iteration of the character.

Marvel Superheroes Betrayed Fans And Became Villains

John Krasinski’s version is unaware of his own powers and incredibly dense when it comes to heeding warnings about The Scarlet Witch. All of this to say that they could have probably made a better impression if The Illuminati showed up at the end instead of the start.
