Finally, after months of waiting anxiously, Thor: Love and Thunder trailer is out! And Marvel editors are back in their ways of teasing key moments so subtly that we miss it. Despite their subtleness, we think we found a big hint that foreshadows the potential defeat, or possibly a huge MCU death. Keep up with the post to find out how we reached this conclusion.
Thor: Love and Thunder’s official trailer came out a few days ago, and to say in one word, it was AWESOME! The trailer gave us many key moments, already making us move to the edge of our seats. We can’t wait to see the cringy Ravager Thor continuously annoying Star-Lord and then his interaction with Jane Foster’s The Mighty Thor. But most of all, we can’t wait to see the whole story of Gorr the God Butcher. Gorr is one of the most feared villains in the Marvel comics lore, and finally seeing him in live-action is a dream come true. For all who aren’t sure who Gore is and how big a threat he poses, here is a quick guide.
Gorr grew up as a religious being who believed in his Gods. But when everyone close to him died, despite his continuous prayers to his Gods, he stopped believing in their existence. That was until he saw two Gods land on his planet. That’s when he knew that Gods existed, and were just very ignorant. So he slew those Gods with one of the God’s Swords and took an oath. All Gods Must Die! So, if Gorr is finally coming to the MCU, you know who will accompany him. MORE GODS! Marvel even teased one of them. and we think they also teased his death!
WHO WILL GORR KILL IN THOR 4 AND HOW DO WE KNOW IT?
If you still haven’t figured out who we are talking about here, it’s Zeus, the God of the Sky and the King of the Greek Pantheon. After reading all this, you know that his death is much too unlikely to happen in the MCU, but we have compelling reasons to make you believe otherwise. We know that Gorr is a ruthless killer, hence the name Butcher. He once killed all the Gods of a certain race of people that they grew up to think that Gods were always fictional. So, him killing Zeus, the strongest of all, will be like a sample of his true power.
And if we tell you why we think Zeus’ death is almost certain, you’ll wonder why you didn’t notice it. At about 1:38 mark of the official trailer, we see Valkyrie going at it against Gorr with what looks like a lightning bolt. Now if you know your mythology, you might know that the lightning bolt is the primary weapon of Zeus. Now, why would Valkyries use it, unless Zeus is dead or knocked down? We know that Thor will be traveling to the aid of the Gods after Gorr surfaced in his time. So what better place to butcher the Gods other than a place where all the Gods will be together.
Now don’t blame us for being direct because we didn’t consider other options. There is a chance that maybe Valkyrie and Zeus might be fighting alongside to take down Gorr. But could that be realistic, you tell us? There is also a chance that Gorr attacked Zeus with a deadly blow so he might be down for the time. And Valkyrie is using his bolt to hold off Gorr. But both of them don’t sound nearly as likely as the first one. Moreover, it is Taika Waititi’s movie, so this big twist, however unlikely as it may seem, can happen.
Tell you what, we always had a feeling that Crowe’s time as Zeus will be short-lived. And we had our reasons. The first and foremost is his physical state. Greek Gods are known for their Godly physique, and seeing a little worn-down God explains how lazy they have been. And lazy means an easier target for Gorr. Add that reason with the fact that we might see Gorr arrive on Mt Olympus, he might not stand a chance. And you can bet your entire life savings that this will be the highest point of this movie if this happens. It’s not every day you see Batman or a person that looks like Patrick Bateman kill a God.
