The Marvel Cinematic Universe has grown by leaps and bounds over the last couple of years. Things have become more and more chaotic with each new show or movie that has been released in the franchise. This is because, with every new piece of content that we get, we also get a barrage of new characters. The problem has only worsened with the addition of the multiverse. With every new character having a million different versions, everyone as real as the last one, things seem to be taking a turn for the absurd. But there is some respite in knowing that Marvel’s casting choices are as exquisite as ever. A new rumor suggests that Jason Statham has joined Marvel.
Jason Statham Has Joined Marvel
Let us try to determine whether this rumor is true and if it is then what character will the actor choose to play? Will he become Captain Britain? Or some other high-powered superhero with a mean streak. One would think that Jason Statham’s brand of action is too mature for the MCU. But The Cosmic Wonder and Giant Freaking Robot seem to think that he would be the perfect fit for the MCU. In fact, the comic report website reported the rumor as Statham joining the ever-growing lineup of the MCU. There could be some truth to this, if Statham is playing a tactical role such as the winter soldier., that is why we suggested Captain Britain.
The actor has also made his disdain for CGI-heavy action well known. For instance, in an interview with the Italian outlet I 400 Calci Jason Statham had this to say, “I could take my grandma and put her in a cape, and they’ll put her on a green screen and they’ll have stunt doubles come in and do all the action. Anybody can do it,”. The actor further added, “They’re relying on stunt doubles, and green screen, and $200 million budgets, it’s all CGI created. To me, it’s not authentic.” Now, you won’t want to see Grandma in a superhero costume, would you?
We can understand Statham’s disdain towards the modern approach to filmmaking., Especially because he is one of those actors who enjoy doing their own stunts. Statham is a pillar of the industry and his induction into the MCU will be celebrated with fireworks and blood showers, metaphorical blood showers.
