The Marvel Cinematic Universe has been growing at an incredible pace. Things have started to get up over the last couple of years. The pandemic had slowed the pace of the universe just a little. But the MCU bounced back pretty fast with 2021 and the release of 7 OTT shows and 3 movies. The most interesting of these OTT shows was Loki, hands down. It was a sinister play by the show makers who lured us in with the charm of Tom Hiddleston and then hit us in the head with the multiverse. No one expected to see the sacred timeline being unleashed in Loki and yet here we are. But did you know that there is also a Living Tribunal easter egg in Loki?
No? Well, don’t worry, I will go into some detail about it. But the reason I bring it up now is that the said easter egg is also going to be receiving a payoff in Multiverse of Madness. The new promotional footage for the movie shows some interesting snippets that might have unforeseen repercussions. This includes the appearance of one of the strongest entities in the Marvel multiverse. I mean, if Steven is going to be breaking the universe then it is only natural that he does it over the dead bodies of its rulers. We jest, but there is something sinister about the plot of Multiverse of Madness. Let’s dissect this footage together, shall we?
Living Tribunal Easter Egg In Multiverse Of Madness

The said footage has been reproduced above for your perusal. You can see at 0:09 that America Chavez opens a portal before sending Strange tumbling through it. During this tumble at the referenced time mark in the footage, we can see clearly what looks like a floating head with many faces. This is undoubtedly The Living Tribunal from the comics. It makes sense that such an entity would be a part of a movie of this scale. But where is Steven Strange in this still, is he even in our universe anymore?
Maybe he’s not. We say this because there is another place in the MCU where you can see The Living Tribunal and it is in the final episodes of Loki, particularly a place where people and things go after being pruned. In this particular instance, you can see the head of The Living Tribunal lying in a field. At the time the fans thought that this was just an Easter egg to rile up the fans but after the footage of Multiverse Of Madness, it seems that they were wrong and this entity will, in fact, be a part of the MCU in the upcoming movies.
The Living Tribunal is the greatest sentient being in the Marvel Multiverse. It is more powerful than the Infinity Gauntlet with all six Infinity Gems. The Living Tribunal is the only entity which The Celestials and Galactus fear. This being is not to be trifled with, their multiple heads rule over the universe without prejudice. It is possible that this entity might be only included in Multiverse of Madness for a cameo rather than an entire segment. Whatever the case might be we feel that this going to be an epic movie.
We say this because if The Living Tribunal Easter egg points at something sinister. If this supreme being is involved then the stakes of the MCU have been raised quite high. Maybe Strange will actually break the multiverse in half in such a way that things will need to be mended by things beyond his control. It is also possible that The Living Tribunal might help Strange and Chavez on their journey.
We do not know what is going to happen, all we can do is speculate and this article (beyond the Easter egg) is just that, speculation. So take it with a grain of salt.
Let us know what you think about this Living Tribunal easter egg and keep watching this space for everything Marvel, DC, and Hollywood. Excelsior!!!
