First Reactions For Moon Knight Are Positive, But…

We are going to get our first Marvel Studios project on the Disney+ streaming platform this year with Moon Knight. The series will mark the live-action debut of the character and at the same time put him amongst the roster of heroes in the MCU. There is a lot of excitement for the series already based on the trailers and teasers for the series. It is clearly going to be an interesting project that might end up affecting the tone of the franchise as a whole. While the series is mere weeks away from its debut, the first reactions for Moon Knight are in. They suggest that we are going to get an interesting performance from Oscar Isaac, but should we be worried?

Moon Knight

Ever since it was announced that we will be getting a Moon Knight series, fans have been hyped to see the project come out. As the release date gets closer, we have been getting to see all sorts of promotional material about the project. Recently one of the promos indicated that the series is going to be something like Indiana Jones and that clearly increases the hype for the project. The hype is further heightened by the first reactions to the series. Recently the series had a limited preview for UK press members during the show’s world premiere event in Germany.

First Reactions For Moon Knight

The first reactions for Moon Knight are all praise from the members of the press who got to see the premiere. David Opie from the Digital Spy shared his opinion for the show and stated that there is an interesting mix of genres for the project. At the same time, he further states that fans of the Marvel comics might not enjoy it as much.

Sab Astley from Collider is all praise about the series and also mentions a parallel to the popular Nicholas Cage archaeology movies Nation Treasure. There is massive praise for Oscar Isaac too as he is even considered a great addition to MCU not unlike Robert Downey Jr. According to Astley:

#MoonKnight is a brilliantly bonkers dark globe-trotting adventure; this is Marvel’s trippy National Treasure. Oscar Isaac is the best addition to the MCU since RDJ, entwining torment and humour into a morally ambiguous cypher – Marc Spector is a whole new calibre of hero.

Emily Murray has again compared the series to the Indiana Jones movies along with a comparison for the iconic costume. Plus, apparently, the soundtrack also adds to the better things about the series. Emily stated:

Delivering lots of Indiana Jones style archaeology action (swap out the whip for a cape) and Oscar Isaac’s great turn in the lead role – #MoonKnight is plenty of fun.

It’s not as bonkers as I hoped for… but a later episode hints much more of that is coming 👀

Seriously though – THAT 👏 CAPE 👏

Swishing in tune with the banging soundtrack – incredible scenes #MoonKnight

Tom Power from TechRadar is quite happy with this addition to the Disney+ Marvel shows. It might be the best of the Marvel shows that we have gotten to see as Tom stated,

Full thoughts to come in my #MoonKnight review (when? very soon 👀) but I will say this: It’s unlike anything you’ve seen from Marvel before. I’d go as far as to say – and I don’t say this lightly – it’s the best MCU TV show ever

#MoonKnight is the beneficiary of being completely untethered from every other MCU project. Without those connections weighing – if that’s the right word to use – it down, it has a freedom to do whatever it wants – and boy, does it

The opening episode is structured in such a way that, but for the Marvel logo at the start, you wouldn’t think it’s an MCU TV series. The way it’s edited, how its narrative plays out, Isaac’s mesmeric, fully present performance – honestly, it’s top tier TV #MoonKnight

I’ll save the rest for my review – there are a couple of niggly things about it, just to put it out there – but #MoonKnight IS worth the wait. I’ve just got to wait a month to find out how it ends… which stings as it’s the first Marvel show I’ve consumed en masse!

What’s On Disney Plus stated that the series is absolutely exciting with their review being,

I’ve watched the first 4 episodes of #Marvel #MoonKnight & it’s unlike anything we’ve seen in the #MCU – Oscar Issac is Fantastic! I can’t wait to watch the rest of the series. This isn’t your typical superhero origin. It’s Excellent! It arrives on #Disneyplus on March 30th

First reactions for Moon Knight

We can see that the Indiana Jones parallel could be because of the Egyptian locations involved in the project. It is interesting to see that the series is being put amongst the best that Disney+ had to offer from the Marvel Cinematic Universe. This is rather exciting since this is will mark the first time we will be getting a solo series for a whole new character in the MCU.

Moon Knight will premiere on Disney+ on March 30.
