12 Actors Who Suffered On Sets Filming These Tough Scenes

The process of filmmaking is extremely intricate and when it comes to a high-octane and action-heavy film, physical injuries for actors are almost inevitable. Take a look at these actors who suffered on sets while shooting these hectic scenes.

1) Robert Pattinson – The Batman

Robert Pattinson twisted and broke his wrist while filming The Batman. He broke his wrist at the very beginning while performing a stunt. He said it happened pre COVID and it felt like the worst thing that could go wrong. Working out for him during this period was extremely painful and tricky.


2) Maisie Williams – Game of Thrones Season 8

The battle at Winterfell in GoT Season 8 was a very tedious process. It included some top-notch action and war sequences, with some heavy costumes and of course stunning VFX in the post-production. Maisie Williams said nothing can prepare you for how physically draining it is. She quoted “You can’t get sick, and you have to look out for yourself because there’s so much to do that nobody else can do. There are moments you’re just broken as a human and just want to cry.”


3) Henry Cavill – The Witcher Season 2

Henry Cavill injured himself very grievously while filming The Witcher Season 2. He accidentally ended up tearing his hamstring, while running through the woods. The tear was extremely bad and painful and he said that he was lucky it wasn’t a complete detachment of the hamstring.

4) Tom Holland – The Lost City of Z

Tom Holland broke his nose while attempting a stunt during the filming of The Lost City of Z. He tried to recreate a stunt he’d done for Spider-Man, except this was in the Jungle and he was wearing boots. This led to everything going wrong while attempting a backflip causing him to break his face.


5) Johnny Depp – Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales

Johnny Depp badly injured his hand while filming Pirates Of The Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales. The injury was so severe that he had to be instantly flown to the USA for surgery all the way from Australia.

6) Dave Bautista – Spectre

Daniel Craig accidentally broke Dave Bautista’s nose during the shoots of Spectre. During one of the scenes, a punch thrown by Craig landed directly on Bautista’s nose. Craig quoted “I heard this crack and I was like ‘Oh God no’ and ran away. I thought he was going to come after me, but he was so sweet.”


7) Bryan Cranston – Breaking Bad

Filming Jane’s death scene in Breaking Bad was a very difficult task for Cranston. When Krysten Ritter choked, he apparently saw his real-life daughter in her face for a moment. It jolted and terrified him so much that he couldn’t stop crying even after the director yelled ‘cut’.

8) Harrison Ford – Indiana Jones 5

Harrison Ford suffered a shoulder injury while filming Indiana Jones 5. Despite that, the studio continued to shoot without him, and a Disney spokesperson said that production would go on while the appropriate course of treatment is evaluated.


9) JJ Abrams – The Force Awakens

JJ Abrams broke his back while attempting to save Harrison Ford while filming The Force Awakens. The door on the Millennium Falcon fell on Ford’s leg and broke his ankle and Abrams rushed to save him and lifted the door. This whole thing led to him breaking his back.

10) George Clooney – Syriana

George Clooney was filming the scene in Syriana where his character is tied to a chair and getting beaten up. Then he accidentally lost his balance and tripped over. Clooney suffered a crack on his head and spent two weeks at the hospital. According to the reports from his medical team, his head injury was so grave that it almost killed him.


11) Richard Gere – Pretty Woman

While filming a scene in Pretty Woman, Richard Gere broke his tooth. It happened in the scene where Edward throws out Stuckey. Gere broke one of his molars but did not halt filming, which was an extremely professional gesture.

12) Tom Felton – Harry Potter

Jason Isaacs accidentally wounded Tom Felton with his walking stick on the sets of Harry Potter. He quoted “The very first scene that I shot was actually cut, it’s on the deleted scenes. Draco touched something, and I used this cane and went, ‘Don’t touch anything, Draco.’ I didn’t know how sharp the teeth were, they went right into little Tom’s hands.”
