Doctor Strange

Fans experience Doctor Strange’s death in a manner when he was one of the victims of Thanos’ snap. Before the effects of the snap took place he did manage to tell Iron Man about the possibility of this. Even the Ancient One, who had died in Doctor Strange did end up giving some final words before departing. We also got to see her appear in the Disney+ animated series What If…? after her death even though could have been using the Time Stone. The MCU has some interesting plans for the character that we will get to see unfold soon. But the Marvel Comics just took the entire narrative of Doctor Strange to a whole new level.

STRANGE DIES!!!!

Doctor Strange Stuns Everyone

The Sorcerer Supreme’s crossover event The Death of Doctor Strange might have ended up giving us one of the most interesting narratives. According to the synopsis for the five-issue event:

DEATH COMES FOR THE SORCERER SUPREME! Doctor Stephen Strange is the world’s greatest neurosurgeon and Earth’s Sorcerer Supreme. He defends our planet from the supernatural and interdimensional threats no other hero is equipped to handle. But what would happen if he unexpectedly died? Who would protect Earth and keep the mystical evils at bay? And most importantly…who killed Stephen Strange?! The final chapter in the life of Doctor Strange starts here by Jed MacKay (Moon Knight, Black Cat) and Lee Garbett (Captain Marvel)!

The narrative of this event begins with the death of Doctor Strange at his own doorstep through a magic knife. Luckily, things didn’t actually go according to that because the magical world sees a younger Doctor Strange ends up investigating his murder. This is done as a part of a contingency plan that is created by Strange because of the massive catastrophe this could lead to. Fans get to enjoy the younger Strange really solving the murder. He manages to find that the culprit is someone fans of MCU will also be aware of – Kaecilius. This leads to one of the most exciting magical battles between the two sorcerers.

During the battle, Kaecilius ends up making a mistake and this leads to a moment where he ends up revealing that he has Strange’s soul. The young Strange seeks this moment to use a healing spell that ends up healing Kaecilius’ body to Strange. Thus, Strange is brought back from the dead. But later we see that younger Strange actually getting killed while in battle with the magical Galactus-Esque Child. Even though the child is vanquished, the brought back from dead Strange finds out that his resurrection was just a temporary event. Following this, Doctor Strange dies for good and delivers the title of the event.

This won’t be the end of the Sorcerer Supreme in the narrative as Clea will take on the mantle by becoming the new Sorceress. The narrative will follow with her trying to bring Strange back and at the same time coming to terms with her responsibilities. There have been various cases where superheroes have died in the Marvel Comics Universe in the past. Even though fans are sure that Strange is not dead in the larger narrative of Marvel, his death at the end of this event was rather shocking. We will get to see the fallout from the event of his death in the future parts of this event.
