Doctor Strange 2 Trailer Revealed the Role of Vision in Multiverse of Madness?

WandaVision was one of the first shows that Marvel released on the Disney+ streaming platform. The show took the character of Wanda Maximoff to a whole new level and she finally lived up to the potential of her title Scarlet Witch. At the end of the series, we saw that Scarlet Witch was dealing with something around the end but we were not given a chance to see what it actually meant. We will finally see her appear in the upcoming Doctor Strange sequel and it seems that we will also witness the character’s darker shades. But another character related to Wanda might also have a significant role to play in the movie. It seems that the role of Vision in Multiverse of Madness has been revealed based on a mention in the recent trailer of the movie.

Doctor Strange 2

The latest trailer for Doctor Strange 2 actually gave some exciting new detail to the narrative that will be explored here. Fans of the MCU were surprised to see some of the references that this trailer made. While Spider-Man: No Way Home was being considered the biggest event since Endgame, the upcoming sequel might end up taking that mantle. Fans had some of the wildest theories regarding this movie considering the last time we saw the Multiverse being used, we ended up getting one of the best Spider-Man movies we could have asked for.

A lot of new characters will be making their debut into the MCU with this project. At the same time, a lot of other characters might be made canon to the franchise similar to what was done with the past two Spider-Man projects. The trailer featured Patrick Stewart and fans instantly made a connection with his take on the role of Charles Xavier in the 20th Century Fox X-Men movies. This was one of the biggest rumors regarding the movie as it was being said that a character from the Fox Marvel movies will be making an appearance here. But the trailer also included a reference to a character who has played a major role in Wanda’s arc.

Vision in Multiverse of Madness?

The very first teaser we got for the movie in the post-credits scene for No Way Home suggested that Strange will be seeking Wanda’s help. We had seen that Strange enquires her about the Multiverse and what she might know about it. The recent trailer actually has a response from her with the mention of Vision’s name. This conversation went as follows:

Strange: “Wanda, what do you know about the Multiverse?”

Wanda: “Vis had his theories…he believed it was dangerous.”

Strange: “He was right.”

This brings the very obvious questions to our mind regarding when and why Wanda and Vision might have talked about the Multiverse. Wanda’s personal experience with the Multiverse hasn’t even taken a proper turn yet. Whatever she might have discovered about this concept must have occurred between the events of WandaVision and Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. But during this entire period, Vision was dead. So how did it happen? Did she meet White Vision? Or maybe it could be a past reference?

It could be a reference to something that Wanda had experienced in the past for sure. Fans might remember that Wanda had a vision of herself in the future and this could have been a glimpse through the Multiverse. This might have remained with Wanda when she went along with Vision on their own after the events of Captain America: Civil War. There is a chance that Vision might have utilized the Mind Stone to help her with this vision. But whatever they might have discovered has to be quite brief considering she didn’t know about the concept with much clarity.

Is Wanda Lying?

Another possibility could be that Wanda is lying about this thing in order to gain something of her own. The particular scene where Strange ends up meeting Wanda takes place at an apple orchard. This was seen in the first teaser that we got for the movie. During this scene, we can see that the tone of the sequence is very soft and it is bright. But the recent trailer actually takes things to a different level as we see the duo’s exchange happening in a completely different tone. This time around we can see that Strange is wearing the same clothes. But Wanda seems to be in her Scarlet Witch costume with a rather dark motive. She says:

You break the rules and become a hero. I do it, and I become the enemy. That doesn’t seem fair.

This actually complicates the entire narrative of the movie and it further makes us wonder about Wanda’s character in the movie. It has long been theorized that Wanda will be an antagonist in the movie and that will be a part of the narrative based on the latest trailer. But it makes us wonder how Vision would feel if he finds that Wanda used his name for her own motives. At the same time, Vision might have actually talked to Wanda about the Multiverse during the time they spent together.

Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness will be released in theaters worldwide on May 6.
