Channing Tatum Returning for Magic Mike 3 on HBO Max

Nearly a decade back we got to see Steven Soderbergh bring the world of Magic Mike to the screen with some extraordinary performances from the likes of Channing Tatum and Matthew McConaughey. Both the stars took on versions of themselves that really put their names into the peak as the movie made it into the top-grossing movie under the dance genre. There are various Soderbergh projects that we would like to see a possible sequel to and it seems some major studios want that too. HBO Max is set to feature the third film of the Magic Mike franchise, and what’s great is that Channing Tatum is returning for Magic Mike 3. It is called Magic Mike’s Last Dance and it brings back the director of the first film, Steven Soderbergh.

Franchise regular Channing Tatum tweeted about the project along with a photo of what seems to be the script for the movie. He mentioned in the tweet, “Well world, looks like Mike Lane’s tapping back in.” The actor gave us a memorable performance in the role and was able to manage the sequel to himself. While it is not yet confirmed who will return from the past films but we can expect some newcomers to join in on the project too.

Warner Bros. Picture Group Chairman, Toby Emmerich shared in a statement:

Is there anybody on screen more charismatic and appealing than Magic Mike?

We’re thrilled to be back in business with Channing, Steven, and their creative team to bring back Magic Mike’s wonderful combination of dance, drama, romance, and humor.

Channing Tatum himself added to the excitement by stating:

There are no words for how excited I am to blow the doors off of the world of Magic Mike with Steven, Greg, Reid, and the amazing people at HBO Max. The stripperverse will never be the same.

Director Steven Soderbergh, who has been busy with some major projects in the last few years on Netflix, stated that:

As soon as I saw what Channing, Reid, and the Magic Mike choreographic team did with the live show, I said we have to make another movie. Mike Lane’s dream of connecting people through dance must be realized.

The success of the film had seen a Magic Mike live performance that was actually something that was conceived and directed by Channing Tatum himself based on his experience of being a dancer. HBO Max will be featuring the reality show Finding Magic Mike and the series has already gotten some rather rave reviews. The upcoming third film will be written by Reid Carolin who has written both of the past projects. Gregory Jacobs, director of Magic Mike XXL will be taking on the role of the producer for the project. While no release date for the project has been confirmed yet, we can be certain that the movie might end up having a release around 2023.
