Zawe Ashton’s Villain of The Marvels Possibly Revealed
Marvel has been able to make sure that most of the details regarding its projects have been kept a secret. This has been one of the interesting moves by the franchise in order to protect their details regarding their movies. But fans have been using any possible detail as a means of clues and hints regarding what we might get in the next big MCU project. Marvel often plays with the audience in order to make sure that the fans are always excited about their next big project. There are various upcoming projects in the MCU and fans can’t wait to see how these projects have an impact on the future of the cinematic universe. It seems that the villain of The Marvels (Captain Marvel sequel) has been revealed according to some rumors.
The Marvels
The Marvels will actually feature a team-up between the character of Carol Danvers, Moncia Rambeau, and Kamala Khan. Each of these characters would have played a significant role in establishing themselves in the MCU till then. Monica Rambeau had one of the key roles in helping Wanda come to her senses in WandaVision and she also ends up gaining powers due to the radiation she undergoes as she travels from the normal world to Wanda’s simulated environment.
At the same time, Kamala Khan will have her own series come out sometime next year which will introduce her to the world. Fans of the character are really excited to see MCU’s first Muslim superhero get involved in the MCU. Carol Danvers was last seen in action during the events of Avengers: Endgame as she fought Thanos and his army. But she also had a cameo in the post-credits scene for Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings, where she mentions she has something urgent to attend to and fans are wondering if this urgency is associated with the events of The Marvels.
Who Is The Villain of The Marvels?
While any other detail regarding the movie has been kept in wraps fans are trying to dig in on anything that they could acquire as an essential piece of information. It was recently announced that actress Zawe Ashton has been cast as the villain for the movie and according to a rumor, the actress might be playing Kree General Ael-Dan. The name of this character is definitely going to cause a lot of questions amongst the fans considering this is a rather obscure character for Marvel to bring in for a sequel to their Captain Marvel feature. It seems that Marvel is going for yet another gender swap over here.
Who Is Ael-Dan?
The character of Ael-Dan has existed in the Marvel comics only for a period of a year, 1991-1992, in only three issues. These issues are Avengers #345, #346 and Silver Surfer Vol. 3 #53. The primary narrative of the character involved the fact that he was one of the various Kree generals who had teamed up to overthrow a rather unpopular ruler who had been heading the empire. Ael-Dan along with Dar-Benn conspired together and framed Silver Surfer for the assassination of the Kree Emperor and later took control of the Empire themselves. But their reign was rather short-lived considering both of them were killed by Shi’ar Empress Deathbird, during one of the various galactic skirmishes of Operation Galactic Storm.
What Does This Inclusion Mean For MCU?
There is a chance that the Marvel Cinematic Universe could be using both these characters in rather essential positions in The Marvels. We aren’t aware of what’s been going on with the Kree Empire following the events of Avengers: Endgame but we do know that the rivals of this species, the Skrulls have been working for Nick Fury. This would actually be a massive part of the narrative of the upcoming Secret Invasion series. Another thing we are aware of is the fact that Carol Danvers has been protecting the cosmos in quite a significant manner in the last few years. The sequel could actually indicate the massive shift that the Kree Empire might have had in terms of political power over the years. Another actor, Park Seo-joon of Parasite fame, has been cast in the movie in a mysterious role ad we can clearly believe in the possibility that this character could be Dar-Benn.
While the movie might have its own events to address but there is a chance that this all might lead to the conflict between the Kree and the Shi’ar Empire. The latter race has links with one of the most massive X-men narratives that could hint a chance of the mutants being brought in relation soon enough. Fans have been thinking of various possible means for MCU to introduce the X-Men into the cinematic universe and this would be a rather interesting path to explore.
