The Batman Trailer Has Already Confirmed Two Major Batman Theories

The Batman is one of the most awaited films in the upcoming year following the various number of delays the project has even faced over the years. It will give us a wholly new rendition of Gotham and the world around Batman along with an entirely new Batman. The idea that Robert Pattinson has been cast in the role is already one of the most exciting bits about the project. We first got a hint based on the teaser that was given during the FanDome event last year when the project was still under production. We finally received a proper trailer for the movie during this year’s DC FanDome event and it is actually quite a marvelous movie. The Batman trailer has already confirmed two major Batman theories. Let’s take a look at those 2.

The Batman

The Batman is supposed to be based around the arc of The Long Halloween which would probably be a noir take on the character of Batman. We haven’t been able to explore proper detective work from a character like Batman even though he holds the title of the world’s greatest detective. The character has been able to establish itself as one of the most essential superheroes in comic book history and that has made an equal impact on his screen adaptations. The last time we got a proper narrative with Batman in the leading role has to be Nolan’s Batman trilogy. The character has seen various ups and downs in its adaptations.

Major Batman theories

Batman became a part of the DC Extended Universe when Ben Affleck took on the mantle of the role in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice. He continued by appearing in a few other DCEU projects and even though he didn’t have a solo venture he was able to establish himself as an essential figure in the DCEU. Ben Affleck was supposed to direct and star in his own Batman solo venture but these plans were changed by Warner Bros. The studio later decided to go for a new take on the role of the Caped Crusader by setting itself aside from the DCEU and casting Robert Pattinson in this new version. The movie is directed by Matt Reeves and it will follow a rather younger version of Batman than we have seen before, working his first few years as a detective. It will also feature some notable villains in the form of the Riddler, the Penguin, Catwoman, and Carmine Falcone.

It is very clear that the main antagonist in this narrative has to be Riddler played by Paul Dano as all the trailers have heavily focused on him. Not much has yet been revealed about him yet as we only got to see his face in the trailer that was released recently. There are two major theories that seem to be supported by the trailer for the movie itself.

Let’s take a look at these two major Batman theories:

Theory 1: Riddler Is Targeting Bruce Wayne

Ever since the first teaser, we have gotten hints that the prime target of the antagonist has been Batman and there is a chance that he knows who Batman really is. This was hinted mostly in the first teaser in a very blink-and-you’ll-miss-it moment right around the end. The new trailer solidifies this theory by showing us the riddle towards the end which Riddler asks Batman “What’s black, white and red all over?… you”. This could actually be a hint at the multiple faces of Batman.

Theory 2: Thomas Wayne’s Corruption

Major Batman theories

Another interesting theory that is actually supported by the trailer is the idea that Bruce Wayne’s father was corrupted. This could be the very reason the Riddler is targeting him. If the Riddler knows Batman then we can assume that he clearly knows the dark and mysterious secrets of the Wayne family too. The corruption of Bruce’s father is actually supported by a certain clue where we could see notes spread all around him and one of these notes reading “sins of my father??”.

Which of these major Batman theories do you think is true? Let us know in the comments.
