10 Crazy Alternate MCU Scenes The Movies Almost Showed Us

The Marvel Cinematic Universe movies have made it one of the most successful franchises with each individual movie being a success on its own. This is not an easy process as the movies go through a lot of thinking before reaching the version that we get to see. Often certain plots are entirely skipped in favor of making the movies the versions that we get to see. This could often lead to certain characters not getting a chance to even make their debut or a cameo. But now that Marvel is working on its shows we can expect some of these plots to be explored. But before that, let’s take a look at a few alternate MCU scenes that we could have gotten in the movies.

Alternate MCU Scenes

David Bowie As A Ravager (Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol. 2)

MCU has seen some of the best cameos by celebrities and these have ended up being some of the fan-favorite movies in these movies. Some of the popular musical cameos include Rage Against The Machine’s Tom Morello showing up in Iron Man, DJ AM appearing in Iron Man2 while Rob Zombie and Miley Cyrus voiced characters in the Guardians of the Galaxy movies. But this was still too little compared to the massive cameo that could have been. James Gunn had plans for David Bowie’s cameo as a character in the Sylvester Stallone’s old Ravagers team. Sadly Bowie passed away in 2016 before the cameo could take place.

Arnim Zola’s Presence (Ant-Man)

Arnim Zola actually ended up continuing to exist in the MCU following the events of Captain America: The First Avenger. We first got to see him exist in the form of software or an operating system in Captain America: Winter Soldier. The initial plans for Ant-Man had him make a return. We even got to see him again in the 8th Episode of What If…? in one of the Hydra bases, as Hawkeye and Black Widow ask for his help in order to defeat the alternate version of Ultron.

Abomination’s Return (Avengers: Age Of Ultron)

Alternate MCU Scenes

We are very well that Abomination is still present in the MCU in a much-evolved form as seen in Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings. According to Tim Roth, the character was supposed to make a return in the second Avenger film. He says,

They were going to do it. They did do that. They were thinking, in The Avengers 2 or something. There was a movie we could do that at one point, but way back when. It just kind of got swept under the carpet I guess. That would be hilarious.

The Wasp Replaced Black Widow (The Avengers)

Wasp was originally one of the first Marvel characters for the formation of the Avengers team-up. This was also going to be in the live-action version considering she was supposed to appear in Avengers. During the writing for the film, Scarlet Johannson’s contract wasn’t worked out and Joss Whedon wrote in Hope Van Dyne’s character into the movie. Later when the contract was confirmed the character was taken off the narrative of the movie.

Vision Betrays Team Iron Man (Captain America: Civil War)

The two rival teams for Captain America: Civil War, announced quite early in the marketing for the movie. But there were various versions of these team-ups at work. There was even a plot where Vision turns on his allies and this worked into him being alongside Iron Man. Artworks show him phasing his arm through Iron Man so that he could affect the Arc Reactor to save Wanda.

Ultron Goes To Wakanda (Avengers: Age Of Ultron)

Avengers: Age of Ultron has quite a history for the behind-the-scenes drama between Joss Whedon and Marvel. This is also one of the reasons why the movie wasn’t able to work the way it was expected to and turned out to be rather disappointing. The director had to sacrifice a lot of his plans for the movie. Some of these plans actually included Ultron coming to Wakanda in order to upgrade his body. A lot of concept art exists for the Wakandan mines that the movie was supposed to feature.

Nebula And Yondu Die (Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol. 1)

Yondu’s sacrifice played a major role in the events of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2. It was rather emotional and at the same time, it was one of the best farewells to a character in MCU. But you would be surprised to know that this was not the initial plan that James Gunn had for the character’s death. Yondu was supposed to be killed off when he finds that Quill had replaced the stone in the orb with one of Rocket’s bombs instead of a troll. Even Nebulae was supposed to be killed off in the first film of the series.

Hulk Goes To Space (Avengers: Age Of Ultron)

Alternate MCU Scenes

One of the major surprises in MCU has to be Hulk’s presence in Thor: Ragnarok. He shows up quite randomly as he was absent from any other feature for quite a long time. It was explained quite vaguely as to how he reached Sakaar in the Quinjet and later through a portal. This was actually going to be shown with a proper explanation as Hulk was supposed to be shown going off to space at the end of Age of Ultron. This was later changed due to fans thinking that this meant that Planet Hulk was at works.

War Machine & Vision Come For Help (Spider-Man: Homecoming)

We know how most of Spider-Man’s solo ventures have had a massive influence from some of the other heroes of MCU. The first feature that showed us a major part of the narrative is the involvement of Iron Man. Some fans felt that this could have been avoided and Spider-Man could have worked the problems out by himself. But did you know that more than one MCU character was supposed to appear to help Peter? Apparently, there were plans for War Machine and Vision were also supposed to come for Spider-Man’s rescue in the movie.

Peter’s Grandfather Knew (Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol. 1)

In the opening moments of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 1, we witness the sad story of Peter’s mother’s death. The scene makes a heavy impact on him for the rest of his life. But we are hardly given a chance to witness his family react to this circumstance before Peter is abducted. There was part in the original script that would have indicated that Peter’s grandfather knew about his abduction. The scene involved him look at a picture of his daughter and then looking up at the stars.

Okay, so these were all the alternate MCU scenes that would have changed the narrative big time. Which of them would you have liked to see in the actual films? Let us know in the comments.
