This year and the coming one we are gonna see a lot of sequels and reboots of various projects. Some of these reboots are intended to improve upon the existing franchises. The sequels on the other hand are set to expand on the existing universe of various movies. Fans are excited to see what new things they might get savor with these reboots. Some of these big-budget projects also include an opportunity by the studios to redeem the franchises. One such sequel/reboot attempt was this years’ The Suicide Squad and it was a massive success. The Transformers films might also be getting a similar treatment. Changes are being made to make sure the movies are very much different from the previous one’s both visual and also in the narrative. The new Transformer 7 set Video reveals the first look at G1 Optimus Prime.
A Possible Reboot
The upcoming Transformers: Rise of the Beasts will be based on the late 1990s Beast Wars: Transformers cartoon. This will be the seventh Transformers movie over the years. Transformers movies have had a massive change in pace with the newer movies paying attention to the narrative. The first attempt at that was 2018’s Bumblebee, where we saw success with critical acclaim. The movie was of much smaller scale than the previous Transformers: The Last Knight, which was a critical and commercial failure. It appears that Transformers 7 will be following in the footsteps of the Bumblebee movie.
Transformer 7 Set Video
A recent set video for the Transformers: Rise of the Beasts showed us the G1-inspired design for Optimus Prime, which has been a fan favorite. The video that was initially posted on TikTok by the account arun09345 and laters shared to Twitter by Youtuber Cris Parker, gave us this news. In the video, we can see the semi-truck being used for Optimus Prime’s vehicular form driving down the streets of New York City where the film is being shot. The color scheme and the design of the vehicle hint at spot-on recreations of the cartoon-inspired G1 Optimus Prime.
What To Expect?
The movie is supposed to bring some of the unseen characters from the cartoon to live-action films. These characters include Optimus Primal and Rhinox. This does not mean that the Cybertronians were established in the earlier movies will be absent. Paramount has revealed that Optimus Prime will again be in the leading role for the movie. The film will play an essential role in explaining how he became so invested in the human race.
One of the major criticism the Michael Bay Transformer films faced was the complicated robot designs. These designs were unfaithful to the original cartoons and sometimes viewers felt that it was had to grasp what was actually happening when an Autobot fought a Decepticon. Bumblebee fixed this problem, so it seems we might be getting a Transformer movie with a much faithful adaptation on the basis of iconic and memorable designs from the cartoon.
Transformers: Rise Of The Beasts will be released on 24 June 2022.
