New Fantastic Beasts 3 Release Date And Title Revealed (And Explained)

The world of Harry Potter is still continuing with the Fantastic Beasts movies. These movies follow the adventure of Newt Scamander with the first one released in 2016. A variety of characters have started to appear in these movies and we are getting to see a lot of new things about the world of Harry Potter. The movies have been setting up the character of Grindlewald as the primary villain. The second movie in the series gave us Credence – a powerful wizard who is also an Obscurial. With the introduction of Dumbledore in the movies, we might be able to get a whole new perspective about his character and hints at details that were previously left over. Warner Bros. has announced the new Fantastic Beasts 3 release date. So let’s look at it along with the newly revealed title for Fantastic Beasts 3 and why it has been given this title.

The Title

Fantastic Beasts 3 will be titled The Secrets of Dumbledore, which could be a clear indication of what we might get to witness in the series going ahead. The movie went through a lot of issues recently and it even had to face delays due to the pandemic. The movie also hit the news with the recasting of the character of Grindlewald from Johnny Depp to Madds Mikkelsen. This was something that was widely spread as some of the fans didn’t like this particular news while others felt this was a nice movie. There might be a very smooth way in which this transition could be depicted as we saw a similar transition when Collin Farrell’s character in the first film transitions into Johnny Depp’s Grindlewald.

The Secrets of Dumbledore might actually end up going farther away from the narrative of Newt Scamander as played by Eddie Redmayne. We might get to witness the story from the unique perspective of Dumbledore himself who made an appearance in The Crimes of Grindlewald. This movie might end up giving us the epic tale behind the first major wizarding war in this magical mystical world. These movies utilize a lot of the lore that we had previously gotten to know in the events of the Harry Potter movies. The first Fantastic Beasts movie gave us a glance at the character of the dark wizard Grindelwald who has been a legendary part of the Harry Potter lore. His true history was clearly hinted at in the Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows.

Why The Secrets of Dumbledore?

The movie will probably majorly focus on Albus Dumbledore. In the previous movie in the series, we got to witness the character of Credence Barebone being revealed to be the long-lost brother of Dumbledore, named Aurelius. Harry Potter had only established three siblings in those movies. These three included Albus, Aberforth, and the late Ariana. It’s quite surprising that this didn’t include Aurelius. Also, this time around in the story we might also get a chance to explore the secret behind what had happened with Ariana.

Credence is under the sway of Gellert Grindelwald and the latter is ready to take Europe by storm and defeat Albus Dumbledore in a wizarding duel. We are yet to find out how Credence will fit into this storyline but J K Rowling has confirmed that this will be resolved in the upcoming movie. Another important detail that might be explored much properly might be the plot that Albus Dumbledore had actually fallen for Grindelwald as he was younger. This was revealed in Harry Potter & the Deathly Hallows. This could be more majorly addressed in the movie and hence Dumbledore’s homosexuality could be addressed more directly.

The movie was supposed to be released in the theaters this fall but the massive changes and updates in the production that were caused by the pandemic pushed the project to 2022. Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets Of Dumbledore will be released on April 15, 2022. It is coming out just a week after Bullet Train and Sonic the Hedgehog 2. So, WB has done well to take it away from the heavy competition it would have faced on its original release date, i.e. July 15.
