Shang-Chi And The Legend Of Ten Rings premiered earlier this month. The movie exceeded every expectation, even on the second weekend. After being established as the first Asian superhero, Shang-Chi has been well-received by fans and critics alike. The movie went on to become one of the most successful movies since early-2020 (to be released in the theatres). So, we’re gonna see the movies where Shang-Chi could appear next.
As far as origin movies go, Shang-Chi was almost as good as Iron Man and Doctor Strange. It finally addressed the Mandarin problem of the MCU. The movie had the perfect balance between emotional, wholesome, serious, comedy, and action scenes. The movie had some seriously jaw-dropping moments but what grabbed our attention was the scene where Shang-Chi visits Kamar-Taj. The post-credits scene with Mark Ruffalo’s Bruce Banner, Brie Larson’s Captain Marvel, and Benedict Wong’s Wong made it into the Top 5 best moments of the movie. The best scene was Wong with a karaoke machine (of course!).
This led us to wonder, what other movies could feature Shang-Chi? We know he is a good character who balances fun in the serious-est scenes. So we prepared a list with all the possible movies which could have Shang-Chi in a cameo appearance.
6. SHANG-CHI AND THE LEGEND OF TWO SEQUELS!
Although MCU has finished 4 trilogies in the 13-year run, many franchises started and ended with the first movie. Many fan-favorite movies like the Incredible Hulk (2008) and Black Widow (2021) didn’t get the ending they were supposed to and it still bugs their fans. Marvel has not yet announced the sequel to Shang-Chi. But with all the success and love that Shang-Chi has gotten in the past couple of weeks, Marvel would be crazy to not announce a sequel. However, Marvel’s hands are full right now with 2 years worth of projects under production. But, Phase 5 might hold the future of Shang-Chi in the MCU.
5. DOCTOR STRANGE IN THE MULTIVERSE OF MADNESS!
The post-credits scene of Shang-Chi placed him in a meeting with Wong in Kamar-Taj of all places. So, a Shang-Chi cameo in the Multiverse Of Madness might carry the character forward. Wong was seen inspecting the Rings for their origin and discovered that these rings had been around long before Wenwu found them. The Kamar-Taj books had every possible relic or mythical object but they had no info about the Rings. So, we might see the Sorcerer Supreme inspecting them again in the upcoming movie. Also, Wong revealed that the Ten Rings issued a beacon to a location unknown when Shang-Chi had used them. So, we might explore this universal message in March 2022.
4. WHAT IF…? SEASON 02
What If…? is the newest Marvel/Disney+ venture featuring the infinite number of possibilities in the vast multiverse. The series has brought back many forgotten characters, namely Betty Ross. The current season focuses more on the Infinity Saga possibilities. Even though Season 1 has already been developed, Shang-Chi could still be featured in S02. Shang-Chi can call out to all the Ten Rings references in the past. What If… Ten Rings got the Yellowjacket suit from Darren Cross? What If… he returned from his assignment instead of running to the US? Fans will love this as Shang-Chi’s character is very flexible and can polish any project to perfection.
3. ANT-MAN AND THE WASP: QUANTUMANIA
Before Shang-Chi was released, there were many rumors regarding the past MCU characters. A long-running rumor suggested that Scott Lang might be seen in Shang-Shi. Since Shang-Chi and The Legend Of Ten Rings didn’t feature Scott Lang, then maybe Shang-Chi could appear in Quantumania. Shang-Chi was shown living in SF that is also where Scott Lang was, in the prequel. Kang The Conqueror is confirmed to appear in the Any-Man sequel. So, it might make sense if Scott teams up with Shang-Chi to bring down the villain.
2. ETERNALS
As confirmed by Wong, Banner, and Danvers, the Ten Rings were not a mystical relic but significantly older than 1000 years and not made of vibranium. So, what if the all-powerful Ten Rings were of Eternals’ making? Phastos is a master forger and has been on Earth for 7000 years. This makes a lot of sense as Phastos might’ve forged them a few millennia ago out of the metal from their world. The Eternals’ trailer also described a message. What if the message was the same one that the Rings emitted? If this theory is true, then the Rings could bring Shang-Chi and Eternals together. All of them are trained warriors and their action sequences with Shang-Chi will be jaw-dropping.
1. AVENGERS 5
Avengers is the most popular team of superheroes in Marvel Comics. Almost every superhero have been a member of the Avengers at some point. And when Avengers were introduced in MCU, they were received with the same love and enthusiasm as the comic version. The Avengers franchise has grown a lot since 2012. Although the sequel to Avengers: Endgame has not been announced, fans know that it will happen. And Shang-Chi’s appearance in the Avengers will be the most anticipated one. The post-credits scene revealed Wong warning Shang-Chi that how he is now more than just an ordinary human. We can’t help but assume that Shang-Chi is one of the Avengers now.
