Venom 2 Release Date Delayed For The Third Time

This year is packed with multiple projects from Marvel Studios. Various projects are planned to release from by the end of the year with each month showing a new project from movies to TV shows. These movies are from both MCU and Sony Pictures’ universe of characters. Though both these houses have had a deal over a few characters, they still have projects that are in separate universes. One of these releases under the Sony Pictures banner, Venom: Let There Be Carnage got delayed. The Venom 2 Release Date has been delayed by three weeks yet again.

Venom and its sequel

Venom was released in 2018 with a poor critical response but the fans loved it. The movie starred Tom Hardy as Eddie Brock, who is later taken over by Venom. Michelle Williams played his Anne Weying, his reporter ex-girlfriend. The antagonist, Carlton Drake, was portrayed by Riz Ahmed who is later taken over by Riot. The movie explored how the protagonist is taken over or merged with a symbiotic alien and later makes a deal with that alien and uses its lethal abilities. The ending of the movie had a brief sequence with Woody Harrelson portraying Cletus Kasady.

The sequel, Venom: Let There Be Carnage will continue with the storyline of Cletus Kasady and he will be portraying Carnage. Carnage will be the primary antagonist against Venom. The first trailer has already gotten people excited with the CGI battles and a deeper dive into the Venom universe. The movie is also expected to have a lot of dark humor just like the first one.

The delays in releases for SPUMC

A lot of these movies are experiencing delays due to the Covid-19 hit. Another Marvel movie Black Widow experienced similar delays. Sony Pictures have had a tough time with their superhero movie releases during the pandemic. Another one of its projects Morbius has been delayed to a 28 January 2022 release date from an initial release date of July 10, 2020.

Venom: Let There Be Carnage has experienced multiple delays in its release date. Initially, it was supposed to release on October 2, 2020. It was then delayed to 25 June 2021 and then 23 September according to the trailer. Now it has been delayed to October 15. This delay is due to the rising number of Covid-19 cases in the United States caused by the delta variant. Here’s to hoping there are no more delays in the release in the Venom 2 release date, or in No Way Home’s release.
