Disney+’s Hawkeye has promised a vast array of cast members. Headed by Jeremy Renner, this show will see the return of many characters from the decade-long MCU. And thanks to Sylvie and the creation of the Multiverse, Black Widow might be back too. The mentor of Hawkeye from the comics, the Swordsman, is finally going to make an appearance as we go deep into Clint Barton’s past. But there are certain characters that might appear in Hawkeye on Disney+.
The revealed cast for Hawkeye includes Jeremy Renner, Hailee Steinfeld, Florence Pugh, Vera Farmiga, Zahn McClarnon, Ava Russo, Brian d’Arcy James, Tony Dalton, Alaqua Cox, and Fraa Fee. The main characters are going to be Renner’s Hawkeye and Florence Pugh’s Yelena Belova who is sent by Valentina to eliminate Hawkeye. Unaware of the incoming threat, Clint Barton continues the training of Kate Bishop (Hailee Steinfeld).
We have listed these characters based on their chances of appearing in the Hawkeye series.
10. Confirmed: Hawkeye
After appearing on the sidelines for over a decade, Hawkeye is getting his first solo outing. The series will finally be able to explain his origins, his time as a spy for S.H.I.E.L.D., his journey as an Avenger, and his time as the vigilante, Ronin, during the blip. The set photos revealed Renner’s Hawkeye training Kate Bishop (Hailee Steinfeld) who, according to the comics, is going to take on the mantle of Hawkeye.
Since not much information is out, fans are getting anxious as they wait for the teaser to be released. Although, Jeremy Renner has confirmed that the series will go into deep with his time as the Ronin. We might see Natasha Romanoff again as she comes with a ray of hope of saving his family. Also, we might see Clint back with his family on the farm coping up with all his actions as a vigilante for 5 years.
9. Might Appear: Laura Barton
Since her appearance in the Age of Ultron, many people have wondered about Clint Barton’s personal life. But she is not included in the cast yet. We already know that Ava Russo will reprise her role as Lila Barton, so the return of Laura Barton makes all the more sense. She has been a huge part of Clint’s life, so it seems plausible to see her again helping her husband fit in as a normal human being. She might help him overcome his guilt for his actions post-snap.
8. Confirmed: Yelena Belova
After the events of the post-credits scene of Black Widow, the return of Yelena Belova is confirmed. Yelena has become a fan-favorite for her role in the latest MCU movie. And now as she reprises this role, fans have never been more excited. She was visiting her late sister’s grave when Valentina aka The Contessa gives her an order to eliminate Barton. Yelena believes that Barton is the reason her sister is dead, so this assassination is more an act of revenge than an order. While this isn’t true, Yelena may finally get closure from Hawkeye as he was the last person with her.
7. Might Appear: Taskmaster
After the traumatic events of Black Widow, Antonia Dreykov might be seen with Yelena. Besides, Taskmaster is often associated with Hawkeye in the comics. So it would be understandable if the same was in the movies too. Or we might see Yelena helping her fit in the society. But above all that, we might see Barton’s role in the Budapest mission. After all, this mission ruined Antonia’s life forever. Since Yelena never met Barton, all of her knowledge about him is based on the events of Budapest.
6. Confirmed: Kate Bishop
The set photos first revealed Hailee Steinfeld’s Kate Bishop in a combat suit with a bow and arrow. According to the comics, Kate Bishop takes up the mantle of Hawkeye after the supposed death of the Avenger. She is the third Hawkeye according to the comics. But since Lila Barton disappeared after the snap, Bishop will be MCU’s second Hawkeye. Also, her character arc with the Hawkeye went on to win the 2014 Eisner Award for Best Continuing Series.
5. Could Appear: Natasha Romanoff
Natasha Romanoff has always been a great part of Clint barton’s life. They were both spy-turned-S.H.I.E.L.D agents and great friends too. So an appearance from the infamous Black Widow wouldn’t seem much of a stretch. And considering that Hawkeye will explain the Budapest Mission, MCU fans might get another look at Agent Romanoff. We know that Marvel revealed that Black Widow will be the last we will see of Natasha but her relations with Yelena and Clint make it a lot harder to believe the former.
In the post-credits scene of Black Widow, Yelena is seen to take on the mission to kill Hawkeye. So she is gonna come face-to-face with the archer. And when they do, Hawkeye will explain to her what really happened and how hard he tried to kill himself instead. So we might get to revisit Vormir. Or we could see ScarJo’s Romanoff with Renner’s Hawkeye during the blip period. We might get to see if Natasha ever met Ronin before Tokyo. All in all, the chances of Natasha’s appearance are decent despite what people might think.
4. Confirmed: Echo
The released cast has Alaqua Cox as Maya Lopez. The comic book fans may know her as Echo. According to the comics, Echo is a deaf character but she can replicate anybody’s movements the moment she sees them. Much like the Taskmaster, she possesses photographic reflexes and can copy the abilities of her opponents. And she is a known nemesis of the Hawkeye, so her appearance in the show was pretty clear. In addition to this, her appearance might also increase our chances of seeing Antonia Dreykov once again.
Only a few people know that Maya Lopez is also the adoptive daughter of the evil Kingpin and also a known accomplice of the Sinister Six. In addition to this and her connection to Daredevil might even tease the new Spider-Man movie. It may seem like a stretch but considering MCU’s past planning, it seems possible.
3. Could Appear: John Walker
After being recruited as the US Agent we haven’t seen Wyatt Russell’s, John Walker. He is now one of the few people alive with super-soldier serum running through their veins. And with his inclusion in the contessa’s team, we might see him helping Yelena terminate Hawkeye. And with his determination to following orders, we might even see him as the right-hand man of Valentina who is just keeping an eye on Yelena.
Another theory says that once Yelena knows about the truth about her sister’s sacrifice, she might turn on Valentina and Walker might appear in case she goes rogue. Nevertheless, MCU has always been full of surprises and they are not going to stop now.
2. Confirmed: The Swordsman
The Disney+ show has aimed to explain the origin of Clint Barton. And no origin story is complete without a mentor. And Hawkeye is no exception, where The Swordsman is his mentor and trainer. He trained him in archery, close combat, and all other useful skills required to be a spy. Played by Tony Dalton, The Swordsman has been an important piece of his discreet story. To our surprise, swordsman has been a villain for most of his parts in the comics. But his role in the series is still unknown. He might be another Mysterio or just an old mentor.
1. Could Appear: Val
It was a surprise for everyone when the creators didn’t include Julia Louis-Dreyfus’ Contessa Allegra Valentina De Fontaine. She is a shady character who has appeared in The Flacon and The Winter Soldier and Black Widow and has recruited potential assassins in her organization. Interestingly, the first moment that teased the Hawkeye show was Contessa giving Yelena a direct order to kill Clint Barton who the latter blames for her sister’s death.
Although we all doubt that Yelena will actually kill Hawkeye because it wasn’t his mistake at all. Natasha sacrificed herself for the greater good. Some fans even theorize that Yelena, upon learning the truth, will turn on Valentina’s organization. As they haven’t cleared what Valentina’s organization is really about, fans believe that this show will finally reveal that.
