Shazam! Fury of the Gods Set Photo Reveals A Surprising Character

Shazam! first released in 2019, and the fans loved it. Even the critics gave it a fair response. And honestly, it was a powerful addition to the DC roster in my opinion. Now, people are excited about Shazam! Fury of the Gods. It is still a couple of years away from us, but that doesn’t mean that we won’t get any updates about the same. As of recently, A Fury of the Gods set photo revealed a surprising returning character. So far, we have seen Shazam’s entire family’s new suit and even Helen Mirren’s picture with Shazam. But we’ve also been hearing reports about Djimon Hounsou’s Ancient Wizard returning for the sequel. And now, that has been made official.

The return of the Ancient Wizard sounds obnoxious because he died in the first movie. However, it’s the comic world, so anything can happen. Now that he’s coming back, it’s believable that he will get a substantial part in the sequel, and may even come in at a crucial time.  A recent set photo was posted on social media this week on Instagram by @atlanta_filming, confirming the return of the Ancient Wizard.

Check it out below:

The Ancient Wizard was turned into dust after passing his powers to Billy Batson.  So to think that it’s a flashback would make perfect sense. But then again, that doesn’t seem to be the case either. The DCEU is no stranger to bringing back dead characters. The perfect example of this is Henry Cavill’s Superman who died in BvS but came back in The Justice League.

But apart from Hounsou’s Ancient Wizard and Levi, there are a lot of characters returning with some new additions.  Billy’s foster family, including Freddy (Jack Dylan Grazer), Eugene (Ian Chen), Pedro (Jovan Armand), Darla (Faithe Herman), and Mary (Grace Fulton). Apart from that, Helen Mirren would be joining the Shazam! sequel as the villain Hespera, a daughter of Atlas. Moreover, Lucy Liu will play Hespera’s sister, Kalypso.
