Captain Marvel 2 is happening but will be known as The Marvels. Brie Larson’s Carol Danvers won’t lead the adventure solo this time. She will be joined by Teyonah Parris’s Monica Rambeau, who debuted in WandaVision. As for Iman Vellani’s Kamala Khan, she is ready to appear in the movie and also her Disney+ series, Ms. Marvel. But in the midst of all this, there has been a bit of evidence suggesting that Maria Rambeau will Return in The Marvels.
Maria Rambeau Will Return In The Marvels?
During WandaVision, Monica Rambeau hinted at a strained relationship between her and Captain Marvel. So the fans always wondered if The Marvels will explore this angle too or not. Previously, Teyonnah Parris had shared that the relationship between Captain Marvel and Monica Rambeau will be further explored in The Marvels. But this was confirmed by director Nia DaCosta who teased that “personal, sometimes sad things” will be in the sequel.
As for Lynch’s Maria Rambeau, a new listing on IMDb might have just spoiled the surprise for her character. As reported by Lizzie Hill from The Cosmic Circus, a dialect coach called Thomas has joined the crew of The Marvels. But his title reads “dialect coach for Lashana Lynch.” However, her character has not been officially confirmed for the sequel.
The easiest way of bringing back Lynch’s character is through a flashback. She is of great importance to both, Carol and Monica. So, having her in the movie shouldn’t be a surprise. And the second and most obvious one is through the multiverse. It’s still unknown if The Marvels will be affected by this or not, but there’s a possibility that now, everything will be on the same grounds as the multiverse.
Jones’ return for The Marvel could also hint at the comeback of Australian-sounding shape-shifting Skrull Talos. He was last seen in Spider-Man: Far From Home, and could now return to warn Carol Danvers of a larger threat. Regardless, this new addition to the list has certainly proved that Lashana Lynch’s Maria Rambeau would return.
The Marvels arrives in theaters on Nov. 11, 2022.
