Loki Episode 4 May Have Hinted At How Powerful Blade Is In MCU
Loki episode 4, “The Nexus Event,” really threw us off the scent with a rampage of twists. From Sylvie’s backstory to the Time-Keepers, there wasn’t a moment in the episode where it felt like a drag. Moreover, we saw Lady Sif in a cameo role when Loki was locked in a time cell. But apart from all this, Mobius may have given us something special. Judge Renslayer did not let interrogate Sylvie. While chatting with Hunter B-15 outside of Sylvie’s lock-up, he gave us a hint. Yes, he mentioned vampires, right away pointing at Blade. But Loki episode 4 may have also explained how powerful Blade is in MCU.
How Powerful Blade is in MCU
While walking by the room where Lady Loki is being held, Mobius says, “You know, we’ve brought in Kree, Titans, Vampires… Why is it the two orphaned demigods are such a pain in the ass?” to Hunter B-15. Now, the first two races – Kree and Titans, are pretty much established in the MCU. The Kree have been in Guardians of the Galaxy, Captain Marvel, and Agents of SHIELD. Moreover, we know Titan very well because it was Thanos’ birthplace. But the very mention of vampires put Blade up to the likes of Thanos!
But this isn’t the first time that someone has mentioned vampires in the MCU. The first-ever reference made to vampires was in Thor: Ragnarok. Korg explained the usefulness of his weapon by saying, “fighting off three vampires that were huddled together.” Even though at that time it seemed a mere joke, it all changed when Blade was officially announced. Mahershah Ali is set to lead the movie, but he won’t be just an ordinary character.
Mobius’ list included Kree and Titans, and we know they are way superior to ordinary humans. Kree warlord, Ronan the Accuser was able to hold the Power Stone in his bare hands in Guardians of the Galaxy. And don’t even get me started on Thanos. This Mad Titan was able to wield all the Infinity Stones, at once. He even used them twice, and still managed to stay alive. So putting vampires alongside these two is definitely not a coincidence. It’s safe to say that this guy will probably be more than just an average threat.
Blade’s Abilities & Why Mobius Mentioned Vampires
Thus far, we know that anything that threatens the Sacred Timeline must be eradicated. Vampires are a major threat to the TVA and the Sacred Timeline. The fact that they have eternal life gives them all the more reason to steer off of the usual course of life, and pose as a threat. This means that different realities will call for more variants. Plus, it was made clear the variants have different powers with infinite ranges. So it is safe to expect that the TVA encountered vampires threatening their organization in a major way. That’s the reason why the vampire race was so subtly mentioned by Mobius.
Blade’s abilities are something that one cannot take lightly. He has vampires’ strengths, but not their weaknesses. He can go out in the sunlight and is immune to vampire bites. Moreover, super strength, agility, and healing powers. rumors suggest that the new Blade movie could be about Blade training his daughter in the act of slaying the undead. This could also hint at the longevity of the character, and future of the same in the MCU.
Title Of The Blade Reboot
Earlier, The Hollywood Reporter brought the news that the title for the movie is not just Blade but will be Blade, the Vampire Slayer. Marvel Studios is in the unique position to continue rebooting properties that audiences are familiar with but which are now situated in the larger Marvel Cinematic Universes. Moreover, Stacy Osei-Kuffour, a member of the award-winning Watchmen writer’s room, has been tapped to pen the script for the reboot of the said character.
But the movie has not yet been assigned with a director. So, it seems like the movie will is a little too far from us. Moreover, Blade wasn’t included in the 2020 sizzle reel by Marvel, and Feige’s comments didn’t make up for its absence as well. Either way, Blade is happening and is definitely in the works since it has a writer and an Academy Award-winning actor in the box.
