MCU Theory: 2 Different Versions of Kang Would Appear in Phase 4 & Beyond

Marvel’s Phase 4 is going to be riveting. As we talk about expanding and introducing new characters, the fans wonder about the new big bad. We know that Marvel leads to the showdown with the real big bad, so we sit and theorize about the main villain after Thanos. Well, the name Kang the Conqueror first popped up after WandaVision with all the far-fetched theories. But now, it actually looks like Kang would appear in Phase 4.

Who’s Kang & How Can He Enter MCU

Marvel Villains

One must know about the time-hopping tyrant. In the comics, Kang the Conqueror started out as Nathaniel Richards, an ancestor of Reed Richards and Sue Storm of the Fantastic Four. Considering how connected the MCU is now, bringing Kang after or during Fantastic Four would also make sense. He is one of Avenger’s greatest villains. Kang has developed a deep-seated hatred for the team because they have stopped him on numerous occasions. Considering his history with the Earth’s mightiest heroes, it is all the more believable that Kang would appear in Phase 4.

Kang would appear in Phase 4

As we know, the Disney+ series Loki is all about time-traveling and focusing on an alternate version of the God of Mischief. The trailers reveal that he will be established as a ‘variant’ of the original Loki. Moreover, the ‘variant’ hints at the possibility of ‘multiple variants’ of Loki. This is a major reference to the multiple variants of Kang in the comics as well.  Jonathan Majors, Kang is expected to be the main antagonist of Ant-Man’s third movie. But we can expect a totally different version of Kang in Avengers 5.

Multiple Kang In Comics

MCU has made time-travel familiar now. But in the comics, it is very soon. Kang has traveled through time on numerous occasions. So much so that in 1980 he found that his shenanigans resulted in the creation of numerous alternate timelines, each with their own version of Kang. The Avengers have encountered more versions of him than any other villain. Immortus (ruler of Limbo), Iron Lad (member of Young Avengers), and Rama-Tut (ruler of Egypt) are a few different versions of Kang.

Kang would appear in Phase 4

At a point in time, these different versions of Kang even got together and formed a Council of Kangs. The Council was led by the “Prime Kang”, but honestly, nobody knew who the real Kang was.  So many timelines had been spawned by his actions that no one could really know for sure anymore who the original really was. This seems doable in the MCU now. Hence, a different version of Kang can be expected in Avengers 5. One that is different from the one in Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania. With the Quantum Realm and time-travel sitting in the middle of it all, it makes sense that Kang would appear in Phase 4 and 5 as well.

Time Variance Authority & Kang

Time Variance Authority and Owen Wilson’s Mobius M. Mobius are in the MCU now. This tells us that Marvel is sure to expand on the MCU’s time travel rules. Basically, TVA monitors the stability of timelines. Loki, on the other hand, does exactly the opposite. During Avengers: Endgame’s time-travel mission, the 2012 Loki changed his own fate by scooping up the Tesseract and disappearing. But eventfully, he is caught by the TVA. In this particular shot above, we can clearly see Kang in the background, behind Gugu Mbatha-Raw’s Judge Renslayer.  If not in Loki, then Kang would appear in Phase 4 somewhere.

Kang would appear in Phase 4

Before Kang is seen in Ant-Man 3, the Disney+ series Loki will definitely start laying the groundwork for him. The existence of variants and what Marvel makes out of this concept is to be of great importance. Loki won’t be the MCU’s last time-travel project. Ant-Man 3, is confirmed to be in the same orbit. Moreover, Kang is connected to both the time-traveling projects. So what I am saying is, that Loki will lay down the foundation for Kang before Ant-Man 3 arrives.

Kang’s Variant in Avengers 5

If Ant-Man 3 ends like Infinity War, then Kang is set to terrify the MCU again. But if it does not, then Kang would be defeated. The time-traveling maniac is too big a villain to be only used once and against just two heroes. Avengers 5 will happen sooner or later. And as we have witnessed, the Avengers movies have always been a step up. Even if Kang is to be defeated by Ant-man and the Wasp, we can expect a different variant of him in Avengers 5. Maybe Marvel could plan exactly the same outcome for Kang as they did for Loki.

Kang would appear in Phase 4

Avengers 5 would come after a massive build-up. Even if Kang is defeated in Ant-Man 3, Marvel can have him make an alternate version of himself accidentally. This version can further pan out in Phase 5. This way, Marvel can protect the deep history of Kang as a villain in the comics. Also, Iron Lad, a variant of Kang, joins Young Avengers, which is seemingly in preparation right now. Hence, this version of Kang can also be introduced because of Kang’s mishaps in Ant-Man 3 and Avengers 5 as well.

Ant-Man And The Wasp 3 Officially Releasing
