Eternals Trailer Shows the Uni-Mind. But, What is it?

Eternals are now officially in the MCU. While being the strongest team in Marvel, the trailer was powerful enough to break the Internet as well. The trailer was not long enough. But we got to see a better look at the members of the Eternals. True, the trailer did not involve many concrete plot details. I believe in the second trailer we will get more of the plot. But one moment has been noticed by the fans. And that is, the Eternals trailer shows the Uni-Mind.

Eternals Trailer Shows the Uni-Mind

Let’s dissect the trailer. Towards the end of it, a shot begins with a close-up of Druig (Barry Keoghan). It is then when yellow energy tendrils begin to extend out from his body. But it is not just him. As the shot pans out, we can see the same energy releasing from other members of the group as well. This more or less confirms the Uni-Mind, which has been a huge part of the group’s history in the comics.

The Uni-Mind was first introduced by Jack Kirby himself in 1977, in Eternals #12. It is a construct Eternals can produce after linking their bodies together. It’s made of light and energy. The Uni-Mind, or a Uni-Mind, oftentimes appears when the Eternals need them most, say when the Celestials return to Earth and threaten extinction. It all depending on the story arc. So, seeing it in the MCU seems that they are preparing to fight off their own creators, the Celestials. Their arrival could be the reason why the Eternals Trailer shows the Uni-Mind.

What Is The Uni-Mind & Why It’s Important In Eternals

Undoubtedly, this is the greatest gift to the Eternals by the Celestials. The Uni-Mind is an immensely powerful psionic entity. It knows no gender nor race and is made of pure energy, light, and mind. Usually, it’s the Prime Eternal who can summon the said ritual & begin the connection to form the Uni-Mind. However, the trailer showed us Druig seemingly taking the lead. It is possible that the Uni-Mind could be formed upon any Eternal instead of just the leader. Or it could just be random that they showed him first.

It holds various abilities such as cosmic awareness, divine powers, flight, casting illusions, forcefield creations, blast powers, invulnerability, and near-immortality. Other powers include intellect, psionic energy, superhuman strength, stamina, agility, telekinesis, and telepathy. When as the Uni-Mind, they are unstoppable because they make the most powerful Eternal in the Universe with the combination of at least three of them.

Prime Eternals & Zuras

As mentioned above, the Un-Mind is primarily formed by the Prime Eternals and must be a combination of 3. Like most of the comic titles suggest, there have been several Prime Eternals throughout the years. However, the title typically falls to one of three – Thena, Ikaris, and Zuras. The former two have been seen in the trailer. But the latter is nowhere mentioned or hinted at yet.

Let me tell a little about Zuras, who is an Eternal too. The reason why I’m bending in this direction is that he has been responsible for leading the Uni-Mind formation. Zuras and A’Lars were the eldest sons of Kronos, the leader of the first generation of Eternals. It was Zuras and A’Lars (the father of Thanos) who first initiated the creation of the Uni-Mind.

How The Fans Respond To The Uni-Mind

As of recently, Marvel has been heavily relying on the original origins from the comic itself. This is something that is really exciting for the fans. After so many years Marvel has created a Universe so well woven. We now want any and everything that makes sense. Well, speaking on that note, this is how the internet responded after noticing the Uni-Mind. Check it out:
