Captain Marvel 2 Villain:
Captain Marvel performed rather marvelously at the box office and grossed over $1.12 billion at the box office. And with no surprise, Marvel scheduled a sequel, Captain Marvel 2, for 2022. No, the plot details are still under the sheets because obviously, they do not want to make much of the information public yet. But what we know is, that an adult version of Monica Rambeau (Teyonah Parris) and Ms. Marvel (Iman Vellani) will be coming to play their roles in the film. Oscar-winner Larson was officially announced as the MCU’s Carol Danvers, aka Captain Marvel, in 2016. Her arrival was hyped up considerably, with the post-credits scene of Avengers; Infinity War hinting Captain Marvel would be the key to defeating Thanos. Early 2019 brought Captain Marvel, her first solo movie. this 90s-set project focused on Carol’s origin story, from how she got her powers to her decision to venture further into space and away from Earth.
Teyonah Parris has teased that Captain Marvel may have 3 different MCU superheroes. Plot specifics are still being kept under wraps, though it looks like Captain Marvel 2 will take place in the present day. December’s Disney Investor Day brought the news that Carol will be joined by Kamala Khan (Iman Vellani), aka Ms. Marvel, and Monica Rambeau (Parris) for Captain Marvel 2, creating a trio fan are excited to see. And based on Parris’ newest comments, they have good reason to be.
Parris recently sat down with Rotten Tomatoes TV to discuss her first MCU project, Disney+ WandaVision. Though WandaVision has provided a great deal of excitement for the Marvel world, the news that Parris will be in Captain Marvel 2 has also inspired a lot of questions, and the actress was only too happy to share her excitement for the project. Though she couldn’t share much, she did tease the three superheroes who will seemingly team up in the film,
“I am excited, just as an actress, to join Brie and Iman and see what putting these three superheroes together — the Carol Danvers Captain Marvel, Ms. Marvel, and Monica Rambeau — [to see] what will happen in that film. But the rest- we’re just going to have to wait a few weeks before we can really talk about it.”
But, it only gets better from here! Zawe Ashton (Velvet Buzzsaw) will reportedly play the villain opposite Brie Larson’s Carol Danvers in Marvel Studios’ Captain Marvel 2. According to Deadline, the villain that Ashton will portray is currently unknown, though she will reportedly be the main villain of Captain Marvel 2. Disney and Marvel Studios declined to comment on the casting.
Candyman Director Nia DaCosta will helm the upcoming Marvel Cinematic Universe sequel. DaCosta recently completed work on the highly anticipated Candyman reboot, which she wrote and directed. WandaVision story editor Megan McDonnell wrote the script, which will feature other Marvel heroes such as Ms. Marvel and WandaVision’s Monica Rambeau.
Regardless of who she will become, it does sound like Monica will be a superhero by the time Captain Marvel 2 comes around. The thought of Monica (perhaps as Spectrum) teaming up with Carol and Ms. Marvel is thrilling and could provide some really excellent action moments. In a new video shared to her YouTube channel, Larson revealed she recently set up a home gym for her Captain Marvel 2 training.
“As you may know, Captain Marvel 2 is gearing up,” Larson said. While she couldn’t say much else about the movie, she did say it’s “time for me to get moving.” Larson’s superhero workouts are about to kick into high gear, so filming must be coming up. You can check the video here:

We’re assuming that Larson will be training for the next few months, so that means the filming can kick off in the spring. If that happens, then the movie has ample time to finish all the work before its hypothetical release date that is November 2022. This could also allow the movie to not get tangled between the complications that could be caused by the coronavirus pandemic. As of recently, a fellow Marvel project which is Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness has been put on hold amidst the surge of rising cases. However, Captain Marvel 2 still has some time before it will begin, so it could be okay. With such peeks by Larson of her working out and preparing for the role as Captain Marvel, we can expect her to give us some more sneak and peeks regarding the upcoming sequel.
The announcement of Ms. Marvel and Monica Rambeau came during Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige’s presentation at Disney’s December Investors Day. He also revealed Captain Marvel 2 would shift release dates from July 2022 to Nov. 11, 2022.
Directed by Nia DaCosta and written by Megan McDonnell, Captain Marvel 2 stars Brie Larson as Carol Danvers, Iman Vellani as Ms. Marvel, and Teyonah Parris as Monica Rambeau. The film arrives in theaters on Nov. 11, 2022.
