10 MCU Secrets & Story Reveals Spotted In The Loki Trailer

The most notorious villain is back as we have seen in the newest trailer of the Loki series that will exclusively be available on Disney+. The said character, Loki a.k.a., The God Of Mischief is played by Tom Hiddleston as Thor’s (adopted) brother. With this, the story has exciting reveals, as well as many new introductions to the pages of Marvel comics, being played by Owen Wilson and Gugu Mbatha-Raw.

When we trace our steps back to Avengers: Infinity War, Loki was killed by Thanos but a simple mishap in Avengers: Endgame led to a past version of him escaping with the Tesseract, somewhere in the year 2012. The Tesseract helped him escape, so practically this simple glitch correlatively messes up with the future of Loki as well, i.e., his death executed by Thanos. Now, in the Disney+ series Loki, he will follow that escaped version as he finds himself a prisoner of a different organization – Time Variance Authority, which monitors the many different possible timelines and universes across the Marvel multiverse, and is a very big addition to the MCU.

Avengers: Infinity War Thanos

Now we will see also see Loki getting tied to other upcoming Marvel releases such as WandaVision, Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, and Spider-Man 3. The latter is also bringing various characters from previously released films to strengthen the very word – the multiverse. Things will be a bit rocky and absurd as it can be a little hard to follow, but we know our views can keep up with whatever Marvel puts out irrespective of the complexities.

Here are some major reveals and easter eggs from the Loki trailer:

Black Widow Appearance or Someone Else?:

This is big. In the trailer, we see a shot of a woman sitting in a mysterious place with short red hair, and a black outfit with her back turned towards the camera. Now if we see it we know it, that it almost looks like Black Widow, but it is not. It’s actually Sophia Di Martino’s Lady Loki from an alternate universe, which is even more exciting and thrilling. The initial rumors about Sophia Di Martino suggested that she is playing Amora the Enchantress instead of Lady Loki in the upcoming series. Her blonde hair totally suggested that. But, then we got the revelation that this version of Loki comes from another reality altogether.

In her reality, Odin adopted Amora Laufeydottir, instead of Loki Laufeyson. So, you see what Marvel has done here. They’ve mixed the Enchantress and Lady Loki into one character.

Vote Loki:

At the very end of the trailer, Loki’s final appearance is a nod to the 2016 four-issue comic story titled ‘Vote Loki’, in which he runs for President of the United States, and bases his whole campaign on a pro-lying platform, which is successful. If the series blends in an alternate universe, then it is easily believed that more offshoot comics could be included, and the people that are surrounding Loki wear clothes that depict a post-apocalyptic New York.

Post-Apocalyptic New York:

Talking about multiple universes and time traveling, we see a wrecked New York City and there’s a particular shot in the trailer that shows Star/Avengers Tower demolished and standing out of the skyline. Considering how the ground is uneven and bending towards a particular angel, we can call it off as a natural catastrophic event. But it is very much possible that there’s an alternate universe where The Avengers was not able to stop Loki’s Chitauri army. We see Loki wearing a grey shirt and a tie that he wears often throughout the trailer.

Loki is D.B. Cooper:

Now, this is interesting. We see a possible synergy in the Loki trailer arriving so soon after HBO’s documentary The Mystery of D.B. Cooper, reigniting one of the boldest yet unsolved crimes. In 1971, a man who came to be known by the pseudonym D.B. Cooper, hijacked a Boeing 747 flight from Poland to Seattle and velds its passengers’ hostage, asking for $200,000 as ransom. And once he had the money in his hands, he jumped out of the plan with a parachute only to be never seen again. Loki reveals that it was indeed him disguised as D.B. Cooper, and explains that the hijacker’s mysterious disappearance was all because of the Bifrost.

Gugu Mbatha-Raw’s First Appearance:

We finally get to see the first appearance of the character that is played by Gugu Mbatha-Raw, who is pretty known for her roles in Belle, Black Mirror, and The Cloverfield Paradox. She is playing a high-ranking executive in the TVA, presides over a courtroom and later in the trailer fights Loki while he attempts to escape.

Mysterious Hooded Figure:

We see a mysterious hooded figure a couple of times in the trailer. First, the figure is seen here holding a lantern and is standing in long grass with an eerie blue fog all around. The figure then proceeds to drop the lantern and attacks TVA operatives. Later the figure is also seen watching over a TVA mission in a supermarket via the CCTVs, and this is a whole lot of indication that this is the main villain of Loki.. or Loki himself! We have seen this a couple of times in MCU that the main villain is a cheekier but villainous self of the protagonist itself, such as – Iron Monger being an evil iron man, Abomination being an evil Hulk, and Yellow Jacket being an evil Ant-Man. So if we get to see the antagonist that is Loki himself but a tad bit worse, the battle is certainly going to be compelling.

Woen Wilson Plays Mobius M. Mobius

It is confirmed according to the subtitles in the Loki trailer that Owen Wilson is playing the role of Mobius M. Mobius who is a middle-ranking bureuacrat of the Time Variance Authority who also appears in the comics. In the trailer, it seems like he is aware of Loki’s innate ability to lie perfectly and he goes, “we both know that you love to talk.”

The Time Variance Authority

In the trailer when Loki escaped with the Tesseract, we see him in the custody of the Time Variance Authority not long after. TVA is a vast bureaucratic organization that has the task of keeping track of the many possible realities that exist throughout the multiverse. Sounds like one hell of a task. But it is further revealed that instead of punishing Loki for his crimes and manipulating time, the TVA is rather interested in having him as an agent.

Loki Loses The Tesseract

When Loki wakes up after escaping his arrest in the trailer, we see him stranded in a desert. But one thing seems horribly wrong, and that is that he lost the tesseract. Now if we talk about the infinity stones, the current state after seeing the Tesseract is a little confusing. As we saw in Avengers: Endgame, Thanos reduced the infinity stones to atoms as he claimed that they served their purpose. But then our brave Avengers went back in time to ‘borrow’ the infinity stones with a promise to return them back to their original place in order to prevent any time glitch. But the tesseract being with Loki, it is clear that Captain America had no way of returning it when he wants back to keep them in their original place. This leaves us asking did the Tesseract in Loki’s possession cease to exist, or was it lost somewhere along the way of him escaping?

Loki End up Where?

based on the desert surroundings, the strangers are sporting Mongolian apparel, and it seems like  Loki wakes up in the Gobi desert that spans parts of Southern Mongolian and Northern China. But the real wonderment here is whether Loki woke up in the original MCU Earth or some other reality.

Disney+ Loki series is on its way and the fans can not seem to hold still about it, and neither can we.
