Black Widow – Taskmaster Best Look:
We’ve been waiting for Black Widow since forever. It’s just sad to know that we would have got Black Widow, Eternals and The Falcon and the Winter Soldier by now, if it wasn’t for the Coronavirus pandemic. We could have been so far ahead with our MCU findings and theories. But it just wasn’t meant to be. Black Widow is the film that has probably suffered the most due to delays. Marvel had not marketed any other movie besides this one. So, delaying those wasn’t a big problem. But Black Widow was in its final marketing stage. They had released 3 trailers, and now they’d have to reveal even more footage when they restart the marketing campaign. And that’s where the problem is going to begin. But anyway, we’ll look into that later. For now, let’s take a look at the big villain of the film – Taskmaster!
What you see above is a new collage of the villain revealed in Black Widow: The Official Movie Special Book. We get a good look at his mechanized skull mask, his whole suit, shield and sword. Now if you zoom into the mask, you could see that there is a camera at the top of his visor. This confirms that his helmet has a whole heads up display just like Iron Man and even the Iron Spider suit. So, Taskmaster is always watching, and his suit probably analyses the fight pattern of everyone he fights and studies. That way, it is able to replicate the moves of the opponents almost instantaneously.
What I mean by this is that in the MCU, Taskmaster probably won’t have his natural “photographic reflexes” from the comics. That element will come in through his advanced suit. We saw Tony analyze Captain America’s fight patterns in Captain America: Civil War. He was able to deploy countermeasures immediately in order to “kick his ass.” So, we reckon that Taskmaster’s suit will have that kind of tech involved. And who knows, it could even be the exact same tech. It’d be interesting to see if Taskmaster somehow got this from Stark himself. That way, Stark will be indirectly responsible for the creation of yet another villain in the MCU.
Besides his abilities, people are even more interested to know the identity of the person that’s behind the Taskmaster mask. Anyone who’s a slightly more ardent fan of the MCU than regular moviegoers could guess that O.T. Fagbenle is playing Taskmaster. Marvel has only confirmed that he is playing Rick Manson, who is an old associate and a fixer of Natasha Romanoff. But he hasn’t been in any of the trailers and we’ve only seen him in one of the posters. So, it is more or less obvious that Marvel is hiding something regarding Manson. But it just cannot be that simple. Nothing is so simple with Marvel. They let you think that you’ve figured things out. But they are extremely proficient at masking the real truth. So, there will surely be a plot twist involved with the identity of Taskmaster.
And our theory is that Rachel Weisz’s character, Melina Vostokoff might also turn out to be a villain in the movie. And at some point, she will don the suit of Taskmaster and be in the same room as Rick Manson. That way, we will be made to think that Rick Manson is not Taskmaster. But the truth will be that he totally is. Melina will only be taking his place temporarily to dupe Natasha and the audience. And in the end, Manson will be revealed as Taskmaster while Melina will don her Iron Maiden suit.
There’s a while until Black Widow comes out. So, we’ll have to wait a little longer for our theory to be confirmed. But until then, we might get to watch both WandaVision and The Falcon and the Winter Soldier. So, the waiting period won’t be a problem at all.
