There may be a bit of time left until we see Marvel’s Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings, but things are really turning out to be quite amazing for the film. It is currently under production in Australia and will surely surprise us as much as all the other upcoming MCU movies. That’s because the cast doesn’t just pack Shang-Chi and the Mandarin, but Karl Mordo from Doctor Strange is also rumored to appear. In fact, the movie is going to be quite connected to the rest of the MCU.
The Mandarin will certainly show us a connection to Iron Man 3. Apart from that, there will be a major connection with Doctor Strange as multiple Sorcerers are rumored to be a part of the film. Now, another familiar Sorcerer close to Doctor Strange has taken his seat in the speculation room besides Chiwetel Ejiofor’s Mordo. Apparently, Benedict Wong was spotted having dinner with Shang-Chi actor Simu Liu in Sydney on Sunday. KOGI Korean BBQ shared a photo on Instagram, and in that image, we see an employee of the joint posing with Wong & Liu. So, people are speculating that Wong’s presence in Sydney could actually mean that he is also going to be a part of the all Asian cast of Shang-Chi.
It could just be a coincidental dinner, but then again, everything in the MCU is so interconnected. It won’t come as a surprise to anyone if Wong appeared in Shang-Chi, especially after we’ve heard reports stating that Mordo will be in the film. It’d be interesting to see what role he ends up playing. Perhaps, the Honk Kong Sanctum could have something to do in the plot of Shang-Chi. Or, Wong might be seen investigating Karl Mordo’s doings since Mordo is rumored to be the one who will accidentally set the dragon, Fin Fang Foom lose.
Like WandaVision, The Falcon and the Winter Soldier & Loki, we should expect Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings to lead into Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness as well. The film arrives on May 7, 2021.
