‘Midnight Sun’ Reveals a New Side of Edward Cullen

Midnight Sun New Side of Edward Cullen:

A few months ago it was announced that Stephenie Meyer, the author famous for her vampire fantasy novels was coming out with a brand new book. As promised, the author launched her latest book in August and since the release, the internet and the Twilight fandom has been going crazy over it. For those who are not as familiar with the series, Meyer actually released a few chapters of this book almost a decade ago and now that the whole book is finally out, it seems like the world is ready for some Twilight craziness again.

It has been years since Stephenie Meyer’s Twilight saga became successful and even got a whole movie franchise with a massive fan base. Seeing how it hasn’t even been a month since the latest book’s release, the fact that it is already a bestseller having released a million copies shows the craze people still have for Twilight and also the nostalgia factor. The new Twilight book is basically 800 pages of Edward Cullen’s perspective of the first Twilight book and yet fans are loving it even though the story isn’t new.

Being from Edward Cullen’s point of view, the book offers some fresh perspective to the already familiar story giving Edward the lead as the protagonist. It explores Edward’s history before he met Bella and also how he became a part of his nonbiological family. Some of these things were alluded to in the original books but not to the extent that Midnight sun dives into.

One of the major things in Midnight Sun is that the readers get a deeper look into Edward’s non-biological family, who were brought together through a series of events that become clearer in his telling. The Cullens are given a deeper insight and it is defined fun to read about as the characters now feel more complex.

The book also explores Edward’s personal struggles as a vampire and how the mere presence of Bella makes it extremely difficult for him to stay in control of his powers. The author revealed that in the original books that are written from Bella’s perspective, Edward comes across as an effortlessly confident character whereas Bella is seen as a hesitating nervous character. In the latest rendition, however, she revealed that the readers can finally read about Edward’s anxieties and doubts and this time Bella will seem more serene and calm.

Edward’s mind-reading abilities also add an extra layer to the narrative giving a lot of information about many different characters that were earlier not available. When asked about the book, Meyer revealed that she found it much more challenging to write from Edward’s perspective as it was more complicated and even filled her with anxiety. After fans asking whether all the other Twilight books would also be written from Edward’s perspective, she revealed that she has no such plans and this might be the first and last time fans will get to read his point of view.

However, to the delight of Twilight fans, Stephenie Meyer has revealed that she in fact does plan on writing more Twilight books. She has admitted that there are precisely 2 more books that she is planning on writing for the series and will start writing them in the coming years. She has not promised any release dates or even said which year they will be out. The author is also planning on writing a brand new series with a different world soon and therefore might keep the last two Twilight books on hold for it.

“There are two more books I think in the world I want to write. I have got them outlined and a chapter written I think of the first one, so I know it’s there. I am not ready to do that right now. I want to do something brand new,”

Meyer said during an online event.

This means that the Twilight fever is officially back on and the world must brace itself for it.
