Gone are those days when superhero films were considered a good watch only for kids. Since 2010, especially after Nolan’s Batman trilogy and the MCU, this genre is the most profitable one. Not only profitable, but it is also critically acclaimed as well. So, in the recent past, we have had a huge inflow of superhero films. This post talks about some badly rated superhero films that actually aren’ that bad.

1)Blade

Rotten Tomatoes: 55%

No one understands why Blade 1 wasn’t critically appreciated. Probably because back then a vampire hunter wasn’t something viewers were ready for. The blade was commercially successful and fans love it. It actually was the film that jump-started the MCU.

This film has the largest discrepancy in how critics saw it and the audience saw it. Well, critics don’t pay millions in tickets. So, who cares. Thus, Venom is a good example of what the comic audience wants in a film. What, the film lacked in spectacle it made up by treating the character of Venom well.

3)Hancock

Rotten Tomatoes: 41%

Hancock was a very different kind of a superhero film and it deserves more critical appreciation. It was a different take on the genre. The movie deal with a psychological crisis having superpowers can have on a hero. Say what you will, the film earned more than 500,000 dollars on the box office. It was an enjoyable film.

This movie deserves far better scores. The film was quite enjoyable. If you watch the film you will love the witty one-liners and karate chops. It is well shot, and guys if Megan Fox is in a movie it doesn’t mean you will just rate it bad. Come on.

5)Ghost Rider

Ghost Rider 2 was bad and it literally ended Nicolas Cage’s career. But, Ghost Rider was a good film. It was enjoyable, funny, and just plain simple awesome. At that point in time had the studio gone with some R-Rated content, probably this could have been even better.

6)Brightburn

Rotten Tomatoes: 57%

Brightburn is a different take on the superhero genre. It transforms a good superhero origin story into a horror story. The result isn’t that bad. Fans actually found the movie okay.

7)Batman Forever

Critics called it over the top and cringy and that is what Joel Schumacher wanted to achieve in the film. The film isn’t that bad and it was a different take than Tim Burton’s Batman.

8)Punisher: War Zone

This is the movie which actually did justice to Frank Castle before Netflix’s Punisher came out. This film has a lot of violence which is in line with The Punisher’s storyline. It is definitely a good watch.

9)The Shadow

Rotten Tomatoes: 35%

This film definitely has a style and tone. It has a Batman-like character called The Shadow played by Alec Baldwin. The movie is fun to watch and has every element of a 90s film.

10)Watchmen

Watchmen’s storyline is perhaps the most difficult to adapt to in a film. But full points to Zack Snyder for attempting it. Now, the film isn’t that perfect. But, it laid the foundation for superhero films with multiple superheroes.
