Moviemakers have always used the concept of Memory loss to add spice and mystery to the story. But only a handful of movies have depicted this concept with utmost sincerity. We have all imagined ourselves in a situation where we lose our memories, but as these movies show us, it is not really a good idea to be in such a situation.
#10: 50 First Dates (2004)
This movie proves that Adam Sandler doesn’t always make bad movies. 50 First Dates is a heart-warming Rom-com, that is pretty grounded and not at all over-the-top like most rom-coms. The chemistry between Adam Sandler and Drew Barrymore is golden. The humor in this movie is based on funny characters, and they do not let us down.
#9: Finding Dory (2016)
We all saw and loved the forgetful Dory in Finding Nemo, and the sequel is entirely dedicated to her which is delightful. No one really asked for this movie so the expectations were not really high, but this movie blew everyone. It carries the feel of the first movie, and it looks gorgeous. Ellen was excellent as Dory, and this movie is a treat for every Nemo fan.

After a horrible car crash, Leo’s wife, Paige wakes up with amnesia and now Leo must win her back. Even if you’re not into romantic dramas, this movie will resonate with you as it is all about relationships. The best thing about this movie is the fact that it is based on a real story.
#7: Dark City (1998)
Dark City is one of the most original sci-fi movies of all time, and it deserves a lot more recognition in this day and age. It is set in a dark and gothic atmosphere, which makes it visually beautiful. It tells the story of John Murdoch, a man who wakes up one day without any memory of his life. This movie is highly underrated but it did manage to get a cult following.
#6: Total Recall (1990)
Everyone remembers this iconic Sci-fi movie for its amazing story, full of shocking twists and turns. Arnold Schwarzenegger gives one of his best acting performances in this movie. The movie deals with the concept of repressed memories, and it is done very cleverly. It is packed with action, as you would expect from a Schwarzenegger movie, but it is a true Science Fiction movie in all aspects.

The loss of your memories can also lead to some hilarious situations as depicted in this movie. Some of you might have even experienced something like this in real and that is what makes this movie so fun. The Hangover is easily one of the best comedy movies of the current era. The characters and the story is amazing. It is filled with hilarious jokes that just keep on coming.

David Lynch is a master of surrealism, and his masterpiece Mulholland Drive set a new standard for this entire genre. To a casual viewer, Mulholland Drive is nothing but a collection of several incoherent sequences. But in reality, it is grander than most movies. You’ll only truly enjoy it once you totally understand it.

The master assassin Jason Bourne suffers from amnesia and goes on an action-packed journey to know his true identity. Fans adore this trilogy for its realism. This trilogy showed everyone how a real spy operates, they are not as action-hungry and over-the-top as Hollywood has led us to believe over the years.

This movie is the perfect answer to those people who believe that Jim Carrey can only do comedy movies. Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind is a very strange but beautiful experience that will leave a life-long mark on you. This artistic love story will leave you happy and sad at the same time.
#1: Memento (2000)
Only Christopher Nolan could have made such a masterpiece like this. To take the concept of amnesia, and present it in such a ground-breaking fashion, only a genius like Nolan is capable of that. Even though the story is far-fetched, it seems very realistic and plausible. It has one of the most mind-boggling endings of all time making Memento the best Memory loss movie of all time.
