Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. Could Reboot The Inhumans for MCU

Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. Reboot The Inhumans:

Back in 2015, Marvel revealed their original Phase 3 schedule which included the Inhumans. Since the Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. were covering Inhumans back then, it was an assumption that the show might lead us into the film. Kevin Feige stated that the Inhumans would introduce dozens of new heroes. But that plan was canceled. The Inhumans were pulled strictly to TV, and it’s clear now that Feige & co have replaced the Inhumans project with The Eternals. But still, we know for a fact that Marvel has a plan to introduce a rebooted version of Inhumans as well because the Ms. Marvel series will arrive on Disney+ in 2022. So, could the Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. have a hand in explaining their arrival?

The Inhumans Marvel

Suddenly, Marvel will have to explain how The Eternals have been quite about their existence for so long, how the mutants have begun to exist all of a sudden, and where the Inhumans have been all this time. If you though that the MCU was already too big in Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers: Endgame, well think again. Any of the 3 factions mentioned above could just widen the scope of the MCU alone. And Marvel now has to deal with giving the explanation of all 3 factions relatively at once. Talking about the Inhumans, their plan to introduce them might already be in works.

It is rumored that the Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. series will turn into Agents of SWORD series, that’ll be about the Secret Invasion storyline. Furthermore, the Co-Creator of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., Jed Whedon and former Head of Marvel TV Jeph Loeb teased that something will definitely happen when we talk about a crossover with the core MCU. Here’s what they said when asked about it:

“WHEDON: We’re going to bump into something.

LOEB: (LAUGHS) Yeah, we’ll bump into something.

BELL: Something will definitely happen.”

So, theory that CBR brings forward is that the series may offer the reason for how the Inhumans have suddenly arrived in the core MCU. Sure, the series doesn’t necessarily take place in the core MCU, but we’ve established that it does exist in the MCU’s Multiverse. So, using that connection, the series could press the reset button for the Inhumans entirely. Why do we believe this? It’s because of the latest episode of the series, “After, Before” has altered the timeline of the Inhumans in the series.

In Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. Season 2 and season 3, we learned the history of the Inhumans with Jiaying, the leader of a safe haven of Inhumans called Afterlife, and the Inhuman God Hive. But in the current season, the repercussions of time travel seem to be forming multiple branches in the timeline. For instance, the last couple of episodes showed us how the other son of Wilfred Malick, Nathaniel Malick was supposed to die as a teenager, but didn’t. Becoming obsessed with Daisy’s powers, he teamed up with the Chronicom(s) and learned how to replicate Daisy’s ability. He turned himself into an Inhuman, and attacked Jiaying’s Afterlife, causing her to flee.

The timeline of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. has changed dramatically, with S.H.I.E.L.D. getting the knowledge of Project Insight years in advance, and now the Inhuman base on Earth being attacked. So, this could have set in motion a chain of events that will somehow bring the Inhumans into existence in the core MCU. But, we’ll have to wait and see if this theory comes true.

Ms. Marvel Series Could Mean That Marvel is Rebooting Inhumans

Here’s the updated Phase 4 movie schedule of MCU – Black Widow on November 6, 2020, The Eternals on February 12, 2021, Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings on May 7, 2021, Marvel’s Spider-Man 3 on November 5, 2021, Thor: Love and Thunder on February 11, 2022, Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness on March 25, 2022, Black Panther II on May 6, 2022, and Captain Marvel 2 on July 8, 2022. As far as the TV shows are concerned, The Falcon and the Winter Soldier & WandaVision are supposed to hit Disney+ later this year, Loki, What if…? & Hawkeye will arrive next year, and Ms. Marvel, Moon Knight & She-Hulk will possibly arrive in 2022.
