The Falcon and the Winter Soldier Should Be Renamed in Season 2

The Falcon and the Winter Soldier is the first Disney+ show that is coming at us. It was supposed to arrive in August, but the delay of filming & the Black Widow movie seems to have pushed back the release of this series. Since the series is in the final stages of its filming with only a few days of production left, rumors actually started to float that Disney is desperate to have some exclusive Marvel content on Disney+. That is why they could end up stretching their content over the span of months by releasing their shows half at a time.

Doing that, they could have had 3 episodes out in August, and the other 3 episodes could’ve arrived later when the editing and VFX on those were complete. Since the rumor was for half of the episodes, the possibility was that Marvel could have given us even lengthier episodes. But this rumor has sort of been debunked now. The twitter handle of Atlanta Filming stated that Marvel cannot release the first three episodes of The Falcon and the Winter Soldier because the third episode is not yet complete. Even one of the episodes from the second half of the show isn’t complete yet.

So if this is to be taken as a source, then we have to believe that The Falcon and the Winter Soldier will arrive later. Marvel cannot even release WandaVision before it because there is a bit of filming left to be done on that show as well and it will happen in July. Secondly, WandaVision is supposed to lie after The Falcon and the Winter Soldier story wise. So, it cannot arrive before the Sam & Bucky show. Similarly, we have been saying that The Falcon and the Winter Soldier will arrive in December or at least a couple weeks after Black Widow because Marvel placed it after Black Widow chronologically. And many rumors have suggested that it is connected to Black Widow in the ways of General Ross and the Super Soldier Serum. So, it can only arrive after Black Widow.

Now moving to the next update which comes from Charles Murphy, as he stated that on his Murphy’s Law podcast that The Falcon and the Winter Soldier Season 2 will be renamed. He said:

“Coming out of season one, [Bucky Barnes and Sam Wilson] are going to have gone through something traumatic and be different. There was definitely at one point a plan for a second season… If they did have season two, it wouldn’t be called The Falcon and the Winter Soldier Season 2, it would be a thematically related thing with a different name.”

Now this makes a lot of sense. The show has been named The Falcon and the Winter Soldier because those are the names many people are familiar with when we talk about these 2 characters. Bucky was the first Winter Soldier and he still has that title as far as the rest of the world is concerned for now. He isn’t called the White Wolf yet because he hasn’t really done much to earn that title yet. Most people don’t even know that he’d go by his Wakandan title now.

As for Sam, even though Cap chose him as his successor, he isn’t Captain America yet. The Disney+ trailer and the various set photos have proven that the show will start with Sam as Falcon and John Walker will be Captain America. Then, maybe by the end of the show, Sam will prove himself to be worthy of Cap’s title. And that is what Charles Murphy seems to be hinting at. By the end of Season 1, people would know Sam and Bucky as Captain America and the White Wolf (possibly). So, that is what the title of the next season should be. Loki already seems to have been renewed for a Season 2, so we know that second seasons are a major possibility with MCU’s Disney+ shows. And, it’d only be fair if we get Captain America and the White Wolf after The Falcon and the Winter Soldier.
