Sony’s Universe of Marvel Characters Is Now Developing A “Jackpot” Movie As Well

Sony Developing a Jackpot Movie:

Movie productions all across the globe are still on halt, except for some European countries which have allowed productions to begin once again after certain measures to prevent the spread of COVID-19 are taken. Anyway, even though most of the productions are on halt, Studios are still planning the projects of the coming years. And Sony is doing the same for their shared Universe of Spider-Man characters as Venom & Morbius are just the tips of the iceberg. Beneath the peak lie a mountain full of characters like Kraven, Silk, Spider-Woman, Madame Web, and now Jackpot who are all getting solo movies.

The Kraven movie, Silk, & Madame Web are in various stages of development, and now Deadline has revealed that Sony has added  Jackpot to their actively developing projects. In fact, Jackpot may be far ahead of a few other projects as it has Marc Guggenheim attached as a writer already.

For those who aren’t very familiar with Jackpot, Deadline describes her as “a superheroine with exceptional strength, and her history in the comics is a complicated one. First incarnation was Sara Ehret, a scientist, who, while pregnant, is doing gene therapy research and is exposed to ‘Lot 777,’ a virus that rewrote the DNA in her cells. Her baby is born healthy but she realizes in addition to being a new mom she has superhuman strength after she is forced to save her family.

Eventually, she tired of the crime-fighting burden and hands the suit to Alana Jobson, an ambitious pal who takes over the character but must ingest a Mutant Growth Hormone to live up to Jackpot’s superhuman abilities. Long story short, she is killed when teaming with Spider-Man to track down the villain Menace and is killed in action. A guilt-ridden Ehret returns to the job, keeping her identity secret as she raises a family while fighting crime.”

As of now, all these solo spin-offs do sound fun, but the real thing will begin when these projects begin to crossover with each other. We are really looking forward to Spider-Man crossing over with the likes of Venom, Carnage, and Morbius. Kraven is supposed to appear in Spider-Man 3, but just like Adrian Toomes from Homecoming is crossing over with Morbius, it is certain that Kraven could also make his way into Sony Pictures Universe of Marvel Characters.

All of these projects from Sony will only be exciting to the audience if they cast a big name Hollywood A-lister. For example Henry Cavill or Jason Momoa playing Craven is a rumor that was off point, but that is the kind of strong casting that Sony might need behind all of their upcoming solo projects. If you look at Venom and Morbius, both of those projects have big-name familiar movie stars attached. In fact Venom: Let There Be Carnage as Woody Harrelson playing Carnage. So that is incentive enough for people to get their butts to the theatres. Projects like Silk, Jackpot, and Madame Web will need some seriously big names to attach themselves to the project, and their stories will have to be extraordinary. Only then will these projects succeed. Or else, they’d end up like Silver & Black. Let’s see who ends up playing Jackpot.

We need to get excited for Sony because they are in a constant partnership with Kevin Feige whose opinion is taken on all their Marvel projects. So they are certainly going to be worthwhile. Furthermore, their partnership isn’t just for the big screen as rumors have suggested that Sony also wants to develop projects like Agent Venom and Spider-Man 2099 as Disney+ series.

We are optimistic about every one of these projects, but Sony will have to put them into production much faster and show us some footage to really raise the hype for them. Let’s see what the future holds for us. We could surely get either Kraven or any one of the other projects like Jackpot by 2022.
