Avengers: Endgame Writers Reveal Who Hulk Saw in Soul World When He Snapped

Who Hulk Saw in Soul World?

During Comicbook.com’s Quarantine Watch Party of Avengers: Endgame, we’ve got plenty of new revelations from the movie. The writers have revealed that they had plans for Nebula to wield the Infinity Gauntlet. They’ve revealed that Cap wasn’t fully worthy in Age of Ultron. His worthiness was completely unlocked when his secret about Tony’s parents came out and he apologized to Tony. And another important detail that has now been revealed is what happened when Hulk snapped. We now have the answer to who Hulk met in the soul world.

In Infinity War, we saw that Thanos met his little daughter in the Soul World right after he snapped. He had won and then he got to see the only person he had ever loved in his long-lasting life of war. Just like that, Tony was supposed to see an older version of his daughter. We saw in a deleted Avengers: Endgame scene where Robert Downey Jr. & Katherine Langford (Morgan Stark) had a conversation in the Soul World setting. Maguna told Tony that everything had turned out okay. She forgave her father for not being there. This gave closure to Tony and he got a peaceful & emotional death.

In the same way, we predicted that Bruce Banner would’ve seen Natasha in the soul world when he snapped his fingers to bring everyone back to life. It would’ve made sense since Natasha had actually sacrificed herself so Clint could get the soul stone just like Thanos sacrificed Gamora to get the soul stone. And because Bruce Banner did love Natasha, he should’ve met her in the soul world. This scene was never shown in the film because there was just no time as the Avengers were attacked by Thanos right after Hulk snapped. But as it turns out, it was never even shot or planned. Instead of Nat in the Soul World, Banner saw Betty Ross. Okay no. We’re kidding. It wasn’t Betty. The writers haven’t given much thought to Betty ever since The Incredible Hulk.

Avengers: Endgame co-writer Christopher Markus revealed that Hulk & Bruce Banner confronted each other in the soul world. Since these two personalities are so attached to each other, it’d kinda make sense for this confrontation to happen. But I personally would still say that Bruce meeting Natasha would’ve actually made the most sense story wise since Nat would’ve got a little bit of closure knowing that her sacrifice didn’t go in vain. But then again, we’re supposed to get closure for Natasha in the upcoming Black Widow movie, so it’s probably fine that we didn’t a major Natasha moment after her sacrifice.

Let’s turn back to Betty for a while. We actually expect that she would return in the She-Hulk series as Marvel will turn that into a sort of sequel to The Incredible Hulk. General Ross & Red Hulk are going to be a part of it. Abomination is said to return in it, and we’re even going to see the return of the Leader. It’d ultimately be fitting for Liv Tyler to be back as Betty.

Hulk’s future still holds potential as there is plenty that we’re yet to see with the Jade Giant. There is still the setup from Age of Ultron that needs to be paid off, as we don’t know what Wanda showed to Hulk that drove him so mad. But we do reckon that it was something related to the future of the Hulk. It was probably related to the World Breaker Hulk. We’re also yet to see a confrontation between Wolverine & Hulk, and we do believe that Marvel will resolve all these plot points before they release Hulk from the MCU. For now, we’re probably going to see how he became Smart Hulk in Endgame & him mentoring She-Hulk.

The She-Hulk series will probably arrive in 2022.
