Eternals – The First Trailer Details
Eternals is coming out later this year, but the marketing of the film should begin in this month or in the next one. In fact According to industry insider Daniel Richtman, the first trailer of Eternals is already done and ready to be viewed by the general public. Details about the trailer came upon Richtman’s Patron, but they have been reported by Full Circle Cinema.
The first trailer might release by the end of this month or in April, but it would make sense for Marvel to attach the trailer with the Black Widow movie, further providing it a large audience that will go on to watch Black Widow. Another possible release window for the trailer could be Cinema Con, which will take place in the first week of April. Marvel has a 2 hour+ presentation at the event so it is highly likely that the trailer will first be shown there and then be released on Youtube for the people to see.
Minor Spoiler Alert, in case you want to be surprised by viewing the trailer first hand!
Daniel RPK revealed on his Patron that the trailer doesn’t have a lot of dialogues as it won’t give us what the story is about, but it does feature a lot of set shots which are “
split equally between time periods as fans know from set photos the film will take place millennia ago as well as the present day.”
Furthermore, “the film’s stars will also be seen equally dressed in civilian clothing and their superhero outfits. Kit Harington’s Dane Whitman can be seen suited up as Black Knight. In the trailer, he will be seen riding a horse. Even though Gemma Chan’s Sersi and Harington’s Black Knight are the film’s leads, the trailer focused on Angelina Jolie’s Thena and Richard Madden’s Ikaris.”
We’ve uncovered the fact that Black Knight and Sersi’s relationship will be what drives the film forward. But it’s good that the first trailer mostly features Ikaris and Thena because those two are the Eternals that people are going to love the most. It has been reported that Ikaris is the mightiest of the Eternals who can manipulate cosmic energy and has heat vision like in the comics. Thena on the other hand is the deadliest of the Eternals and has superhuman reflexes. It’s good that we will get to see these heroes in their superhero outfits from the past as well as the civilian outfits of the present.
Since Eternals is not an established IP, Marvel will have to go all out with the marketing of the Eternals, just like they did with the Guardians of the Galaxy trailers. The fact that there are many characters to follow, many story elements (Celestials, Eternals, Deviants) & multiple time periods, it’ll be easy to market the film with a couple different characters whilst keeping the big guns hidden to be viewed directly at the theatres.
The Eternals will definitely launch a brand new franchise that will certainly have sequels and the characters of the film might go on to join the new Avengers team that will come together by the end of Phase 5. Characters like Black Knight, Gilgamesh & Sersi have been amongst the Avengers in the comics. So we hope that to be the case in the MCU as well.
Directed by Chloé Zhao with a script by Matthew K. Firpo & Ryan Firpo, the film stars Gemma Chan as Sersi, Angelina Jolie as Thena, Richard Madden as Ikaris, Kumail Nanjiani as Kingo, Lauren Ridloff as Makkari, Brian Tyree Henry as Phastos, Kit Harington as Dane Whitman aka Black Knight, Barry Keoghan as Druig, Salma Hayek as Ajak, Lia McHugh as Sprite, and Don Lee as Gilgamesh.
Eternals releases on November 6, 2020. Here’s the official Synopsis of Marvel’s Eternals:
